    Brit Insurance nominates Hans-Peter Gerhardt as a Non-Executive Director 
 
Brit Insurance Holdings N.V. ("Brit Insurance" or the "Group"), the 
international general insurance and reinsurance group, today announces the 
nomination of Hans-Peter Gerhardt as a Non-Executive Director of the Group. Brit 
Insurance shareholders will be asked to approve the nomination at the 
forthcoming Annual General Meeting. 
 
Peter has spent his career working in the insurance sector in a number of senior 
underwriting and management roles, including Vice Chairman of the Board of 
Executive Directors of Cologne Re and Chairman of Faraday.  More recently, Peter 
was CEO of Paris Re, which he created in 2006 with the support of private equity 
to acquire the business and management team of AXA Re.  In 2009 Paris Re was 
acquired by Partner Re and after the successful completion of the merger Peter 
stepped down in June 2010.
