Hear hear JonC,

...for instance if enough people vote to ban someone from a thread, blue member or not, the moderator, should they wish, should be able to take action against the people who are purposely disruptive or troll like.

Is Santander going to liquidate Bradford and Bingley?

I ask because they took the branches but what happened to the property leases?

"Clokey will earn more money"

I doubt he's "Earned" anything in the last year or so, he's had lots of cash thrown at him for coming up with the right result but that's far from "Earning" it!

I'm sure there will be a Knighthood in the near future for getting it SO right!!!

Clokey is the winner:
"I expect to have published my revised assessment notice on this site by the end of 2010."

I have written to my MP and got a response back from Mark Hoban, minister for George Osborne.
He is saying it is Clokey's judgment that shareholders shouldn't be compensated. Any issues/concerns should be directed to him (Clokey). Mr. Hoban didn't answer any of the concerns I have raised about the conduct of B&B directors, or the previous government. So, this government has nothing to do with it.
Clokey in the mean time will bag more ££££££ by the end of this year. His team must have been using (more correctly, sharing one) wooden abacus to do their calculations!

It was a theft by the government. We all knew what is coming, Clokey delivered the verdict for 5 million pounds.

How could B&B ever have been bankcrupt when for only 1 single year it made a loss as did most the other British banks. The year before nationalisation B&B made a healthy profit and the financial year just gone it made a healthy profit as did the parts sold to Santander. Both these profits were far higher than the loss it made.

Peter Clokey response to the appeal...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Latest update: 12th October 2010
Hello, I'm Peter Clokey.

In June last year I was appointed to assess the amount of compensation, if any, that is payable by HM Treasury under the Bradford & Bingley plc Compensation Scheme. On July 5 this year, I issued my assessment that no compensation was payable in respect of shares and subscription rights. I have also issued a similar notice in respect of rights associated with dated subordinated notes.

Between July 5 and 27 August 2010, former shareholders and other affected parties had the opportunity to request that I reconsider my determination by writing to me, stating their reasons for dissatisfaction and providing any evidence that they feel I should consider. I would like to thank all those who have taken the time and effort to respond in this way.

I am currently in the process of reviewing all of the letters I have received and considering each of the requests put forward. Once I have considered the points raised, I will review my initial findings and prepare a Revised Assessment Notice, which will explain whether I have upheld or varied my determination.

I expect to have published my revised assessment notice on this site by the end of 2010. In the meantime, please do continue to refer to the FAQ section of this site for answers to the most commonly asked questions.
