09/8/2017 07:05 | 'Big Sofa is a B2B technology business servicing the marketing and consumer insight industries with video analytics. Our software platform collates, analyses and organises large volumes of raw/unstructured video content enabling companies to perform detailed and sophisticated consumer insight analysis; and make genuine use of their video content. Until recently, video has been difficult and expensive to capture, upload, store, manage and analyse as a consumer insight tool. However, proliferation of smart phones has empowered consumers to speak directly to brands resulting in an evolution of consumer insight and data analytics techniques, with video emerging as a key platform in a massive $33 billion consumer research market. ' Video is again expected to be an important medium for spreading information out there and predicted to be a lucrative market it seems. | hazl

05/8/2017 18:49 | "You are a hindsight merchant, which is why in 17 years on ADVFN you've never even recommended a two-bagger, and why you haven't given a view on BST." You are quite correct in your observation. And that is precisely the reason I look to people like you and Tara/Evenley/Tenbagm | kemche
05/8/2017 18:37 | Kemche, I think worse than that, you're at risk of becoming very boring. One of your sarcastic comments might have been mildly amusing, but scores and scores, all very similar, is just yawn-inducing. If you've got nothing useful to say, why bother? P.S. Please don't suggest I was bullish on AERO before its collapse from 12p. On the contrary, unlike you who only started posting on it at about 1p, I flagged up the likely problems in advance: Hedgehog 100 13 Apr'15 - 13:28 - 35 of 4469 0 0 edit "The last paragraph from the 9 April 2015 "Shares" article on AERO: "With so many opportunities to grab, the small cap will need to carefully manage market expectations. There are earnings forecasts in the market, but we would quietly ignore them given the uncertainty over timing of work. There's clearly lots of potential with the stock but failure to get funding and/or lease finance could restrain growth. This looks a great stock for anyone with an appetite for risk and happy to accept bumps along the journey; but if you want security of earnings and a nice dividend, look elsewhere." ... " Hedgehog 1006 Jul '15 - 19:26 - 49 of 4469 0 0 Edit "Continuing to sink lower: now just 5.75p. Though there are multiple emerging markets, they are likely to engaging in testing trials on a limited scale before committing to the use of drones more widely. ..." You are a hindsight merchant, which is why in 17 years on ADVFN you've never even recommended a two-bagger, and why you haven't given a view on BST. | hedgehog 100
05/8/2017 17:36 | Hedgehog 1004 Aug '17 - 20:48 - 1123 of 1124 0 0 Kemche, "I suppose that on a day when AERO has risen over 20% you won't be in the best of moods." To tell you the truth I am miffed especially having bought at 12p expecting the price to thousand bag according to one astute investor. "But I find it interesting that you're not willing to be explicity bearish on BST, instead concentrating on snide asides, and cryptic quips. That is both revealing, and reassuring" How could I possibly be bearish knowing that two of the most esteemed and canny operators in the market are invested here. I am but a mere simpleton and would not know a Zurich Axiom if you bashed me over the head with one. That is what sets you apart and the reason I follow your advice. | kemche
05/8/2017 16:28 | Yesterday's IC article on position sizing should come as no surprise to investors familiar with the legendary "Zurich Axioms". These twelve axioms were summarised in the "Investors Chronicle" about three years ago (21 August 2014), and here are a few extracts from there: "Axiom I - on risk. Risk enough to be really worried about the outcome. Play for meaningful stakes." "Axiom VII - on intuition. Trust a hunch if you can explain it. And you can explain it if it's consistent with the conclusions you can draw from an area that you have studied in depth." "Axiom IX - on optimism and pessimism. Learn the difference between confidence and optimism. If you are confident, you know how to handle the worst; if you're just optimistic, you don't." Some degree of worry is healthy, because no investment is without risks. So to be too relaxed could either be a sign of complacency, or of investing negligible amounts. | hedgehog 100
04/8/2017 20:48 | Kemche, I suppose that on a day when AERO has risen over 20% you won't be in the best of moods. But I find it interesting that you're not willing to be explicity bearish on BST, instead concentrating on snide asides, and cryptic quips. That is both revealing, and reassuring. And a key difference between AERO and BST is that AERO's cost of delivery for its services is far more difficult to cover than BST's. The relative marginal cost of conducting a drone survey compared to income from it is far higher than BST's video analysis. After BST's fixed costs are covered, margins are fantastic, with a lot of the extra income dropping to the bottom line. They're not very comparable companies in my opinion. | hedgehog 100
04/8/2017 20:33 | "A key message in the article is that investors should put more into their very best ideas, so that they have a more meaningful impact upon their portfolios." I had that idea and put my life savings into Aero at 12p thinking it could 1000 bag. | kemche
04/8/2017 20:13 | clocktower 27 Jul '17 - 10:03 - 1116 of 1120 2 0 "Loads of wishful thinking going on here and having followed this for a while I am sorry to be the damp squib but I think it has a lot further to fall yet. Profits in this sector are hard to come by - turnover is vanity, profit is sanity." Clocktower, A few weeks ago you suggested that another tech RTO (FBDU) would fall, since when it's nearly doubled. As regards profits in this sector: I'm not sure whether you're talking about the technology sector in general, or video analytics in particular? However, in my opinion, BST's video analytics offering has such compelling superiority to historic methods that customers will be very keen to sign up, for good financial reasons, as indeed has been happening. And the size of the pie should mean that there are plenty of profits for BST. I stand by my view that long-term this is a potential Qlik: “Visual Analytics Firm Qlik to be Acquired for $3bn June 6 2016 Visual analytics company Qlik is to be acquired by equity investment firm Thoma Bravo, in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $3.0 billion. Lars BjörkHeadquarte Under the terms of the acquisition agreement, Qlik shareholders will receive $30.50 in cash for each share of Qlik common stock, a 40% premium over the stock's last closing price. The proposed transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2016, subject to approval by Qlik's shareholders and regulatory authorities and the satisfaction of customary closing conditions. CEO Lars Björk (pictured) comments: 'Thoma Bravo recognizes the value that Qlik delivers - a platform that lets our customers see the whole story that lives within their data. Thoma Bravo has an excellent track record of investing in outstanding technology businesses for the long-term, and I am confident our employees, customers and partners will greatly benefit from our partnership with them'. 04/8/2017 19:51 | The main article headlined on the front cover of today's "Investors Chronicle": "Investing cracked Why putting all your eggs in one basket could pay off" "By Todd Wenning Position sizing is a constant challenge for amateur and professional investors alike. There’s no exact science behind it (we’ll discuss a few strategies in a moment), yet how you allocate capital across your investments can have a massive impact on your returns. ..." A key message in the article is that investors should put more into their very best ideas, so that they have a more meaningful impact upon their portfolios. That immediately made me think of the BeST BeaST on the London Stockmarket. | hedgehog 100
