hootza616..... how can anyone have a meaningful conversation in the pub about logos FFS..... that sounds so sad, what about real things like music and life after death..... bit of dilemna as a small holder of BOO.... want to make a bit of money but in my circle of friends blatant lifestyle statements such as logos are a no no.... too tacky and embarrassing let alone the argument for free advertising

Kuss. All true words and the fundamentals remain key. And they're good as you point out. Inditex did the business model first albeit not online. The model of tiny MOQs, almost sample qtys, then ramping up production of the stuff that sold. Keeping things current and not stale. Low stock. Asos copied and did the model online. You could actually describe the buyers as shrewd. Now, look for a pair of black socks and you're trawling a thousand results. I hope the model continues to work for boo but it seems it's a model that works inversely with growth.

The Amazon effect. Yes it's an article from zerohedge, but if this trend continues (into clothes, perhaps Amazon will have the last laugh, eventually:

"Millennials Don't Care About Logos": How Collapsing Brand Loyalty Will Allow Amazon To Dominate Apparel

Despite daily affirmations from the White House that "everything is awesome" with the economy, 2017 has been a miserable year for retailers. As Reorg First Day points out, over 30 retailers, with debt aggregating into the billions of dollars, have filed for bankruptcy so far this year...

Boo isn't asc, very different models. Yes, lots of competition, but most of the competition don't make a profit and with poor cash flow. The market for fashion is 60 billion plus just in the UK. Times 10 in the US and more in the EU. It's like any industry, who can take the most market share. In my circle of friend's no-one's even heard of Boo. So you don't know is all you can say, but they are growing revenue of nearly 100% annually if that's at all relevant. Consensus pre-tax is 42 million. Revenue guidance is 540 million. I think Boo will comfortably beat both metrics. Those talking about head and shoulders and moving averages etc. What are your estimates on the financials?

Good morning. This is a trade I excited myself into based on the wins we had with ASC plc. No word from Carol, share price sharply crossing the 150 day moving average, and some suspicious market making(?) And I'm out. I used to shop on Asos. That's why i bought them, even back in 2008 the website amd UX was a peach. I don't shop on Boo. Nothing unique in value there. I see Asos boxes a lot in Asia. Freely delivered. Boo have growth potential, but a long way off yet, and now there are so many box shifter web shops all with the same branding its a messy business. Asos had some head space.

The market is just a box shifter. Everything is commodisised. Boo still in a growth phase though.

Well, if not madness it may at least lead to it.

....caveat of course is that it depends on portfolio size.

Cinoib- think you need to reassess your risk management processes. Having 2/3 of your portfolio in one share is madness!

On-line fashion worth some 16 billion, or 25% of a total of some 60 billion in sales. Just for the UK that is. Looks like Boo will have revenue of 540-580 million. A tiny fraction of what's on offer. 40% of that is non-UK, so even smaller. Boo could grow X10 and still only have a small percentage of the UK market.

As for margins, Boo's slightly lower margins are because of the increased spend in promoting PLT and NG. They are just starting out and marketing has grown from 5-7%.

In the medium term margins are projected to return to 10%, with some fluctuation. Pretty healthy in comparison to Boo's competitors.

The key question is whether Boo's business model is superior or not and whether it can make inroads into the US/EU market. Of course the US dwarfs the UK in terms of revenue etc.. But growth there is some 140%, with PLT growing 700%.
