The worlds 7th largest cypto ( and likely to become a top 3) is partnering with SatoshiPay and sticking in c $15 million in lumens to sweeten and attract the customer base. Very unlikely to fail; SatoshiPay then positioned with a global cryto leader with revenues likely to explode through 2018 as the payment platform becomes widely and globally accepted and used.

Stellar: The Ethereum Killer for 2018?
One cryptocurrency is having a stellar performance this early in 2018, and it is aptly called Stellar.
by News Desk , 04 January

Some analysts believe 2018 would be the year of Ethereum. But another platform for distributed apps is coming along, with even bigger promises. Stellar (XLM), recently rebranded from Stellar Lumens, grew more than 230% in the first days of 2018, reaching a price of $0.75.

Stellar functions similar to Ethereum, with a gas-like asset called Lumens used to pay for transactions.

Stellar’s transactions are much faster, finishing between two and five seconds. It also allows users to swiftly exchange government-backed currencies, including turning U.S. dollars into Euros. Stellar also features a decentralized exchange.

Next Stellar Build Challenge

Stellar announced that its next Stellar Build Challenge would happen on February 15, 2018. The 5th Stellar Build Challenge closed at the end of 2017 and had attracted over 50 projects. Stellar said in its year-end announcement:

“Over 50 different projects were submitted for this year’s build challenge, and 35 were awarded a total of 5.7 million lumens by our judges. Thank you so much to everyone who participated this year. Additionally, we’d like to give thanks to the community members who provided feedback for this rounds submissions.

“With the increased interest in blockchain technology, this is the perfect time to make something for the Stellar Build Challenge. We hope to see these projects again, as well as many new ones!”
The Future of Stellar

For now, Stellar has been a rather unpopular platform for ICOs, which have flocked to Ethereum and Waves. But Stellar may improve, and make good on its promises that money should move like email.

For now, the Kik app is only doing test runs on Stellar, and in the future may migrate its token to the new network, if the tests show feasible results. The KIN digital asset and Stellar may both have a field day in 2018, as they remained depressed in the past year.

Stellas has the potential to become one of the hottest cryptocurrencies of 2018. If you are wondering – “What is Stellar?”, then you are in the right place! We explain exactly that.

4 January, AtoZForex – Have you yet heard of Stellar? This not-so-popular cryptocurrency so far might be one of the top cryptocurrencies 2018. Stellar has started a year with great gains – the cryptocurrency has advanced by 65% since December 29. As of now, the price of a single Stellar coin stands at $0.860499.

What is Stellar?

The digital currency now holds a market capitalization of $15,316,851,065, which makes it the 7th biggest cryptocurrency in the world by market cap.

What is Stellar, anyway?

The cryptocurrency with a symbol XLM or Lumen is proud to be able to carry out extremely fast transactions. Stellar operates a network with the blockchain technology behind BTC. While one Bitcoin transaction might take an hour, Stellar is able to take only some seconds for this operation. The cryptocurrency is aiming to enable users to rapidly exchange government supported currencies. For instance, you could exchange US dollars to EUR.

Stellar got some support from the industry giants, as well. The computer manufacturing company IBM utilizes XLM network to develop a cross-border payment system. Another big partner of Steller – Deloitte.

Ripple and Stellar share the founder

While Bitcoin price has been on the somewhat shaky ground during the festive season, other cryptocurrencies have been rallying. For instance, just today, Ripple has hit another record high above $3.70, leaving the markets in complete shock.

Nevertheless, Bitcoin has seen some support from the industry. Peter Thiel – a PayPal co-founder and the director if the Founders Fund, has invested a hefty sum into Bitcoin.

An interesting fact is that both Ripple and Stellar have been founded by the same person – Jed McCaleb. This is the person behind the Mt.Gox, as well. The founder has left Ripple back in 2013, and sold the once biggest Bitcoin exchange in the world to Mark Karpeles. Under the latter management, the exchange has suffered a massive hack and filed for bankruptcy, causing a drop in Bitcoin’s value.

"Much of XLM’s valuation can be attributed to their partnerships with industry leaders, such as IBM and Deloitte. Deloitte, one of the “Big 4” accounting firms, announced they have seen a 40% cost reduction since adopting Stellar Lumens for internal transactions. IBM is using XLM to power their blockchain initiatives. Currently, the company is creating a cross-border payment system, which seeks to act as a global solution for blockchain banking.

Beyond this, there are rumors that Stellar will be integrated in the upcoming distributed exchange, FairX, which is poised to serve as a desperately needed competition to the exchange giant, Coinbase. FairX is being developed by IBM Employees and in conjunction with existing IBM blockchain infrastructure.

It is not explicitly confirmed that Stellar will be incorporated on FairX, but if this is the case, it stands to reason that XLM has potential for even larger increases than what has already been seen."

Stellar Aiming to Follow Ripple's Footsteps, With One Key Difference [Video]

We have a new altcoin in our top 10 largest cryptocurrencies by market cap which is making a buzz in the market. Stellar Lumens or XLM has been soaring up since last Christmas day, and only in the past 24 hours, it’s been up another 65%, approaching the $1.00 level versus the USD. They aim to be a one-stop shop in the financial world, where with just one integration into the Stellar Network, everyone including, payment networks, banks and market participants have equal economic access economic.

Stellar operates a network with the blockchain technology behind bitcoin. But unlike Bitcoin, Stellar's transactions settle in 2 to 5 seconds and allow users to quickly exchange government-backed currencies, such as turning U.S. dollars into euros. Stellar coins are officially called lumens or XLM for short when traded in the crypto exchanges. Some analysts argue that Stellar could be the next Ripple.

In 2014, one of Ripple’s key management members, McCaleb, left Ripple to join Stellar. While Ripple and Stellar have many similarities, such as employing a native cryptocurrency and conducting fast and cheap cross-border payments, they do have some differences. The biggest one is in their respective intended use cases. In which Ripple is going after big banks, while Stellar is going after individuals. If Stellar can follow Ripple’s footsteps and prove that its alternative use case can survive the markets, there’s no reason XLM can’t catch up to XRP this year.
