Posted at 01/11/2024 09:01 by jimmywilson612 Shanklin,Being a long term investor in Bloomsbury - I've heard it was JK Rowling and popularity of the harry potter books that was the risk. Its good to see other Authors becoming popular. Sarah J. Mass has written 3 books, with another 4 books under contract. Its a good call out and I too would be interested to see the breakdown. Certainly the revenue growth is primarily driven by Sarah J Mass. |
Posted at 01/11/2024 07:28 by shanklin BMY now seems to comprise the massively profitable SJM books with a less high quality publishing business attached. Not that we will be ever be told, but it would be very interesting to see the sales/accounts for the rest of the business.Investors here now seem to be taking a massive punt that SJM doesn't fall under a bus and that the SJM/BMY relationship stays as strong as is currently the case; obviously to date this has all done exceptionally well If anybody has access to those ex-SJM sales/accounts, please do let us know. N.B. Sold at 736p after the interim results. Still not sure whether that was a good idea but I wanted to add to W7L and ANP where the SPs were weak. |

Posted at 23/5/2024 17:28 by adamb1978 I think its only fair given my comments on here to say that I sold the rest of my holdings this afternoon.I think this is a very good company, but as I might have posted before, I take the view that I dont need to make the first 20% of a rise or the last 20% - happy to bag the bit in the middle. One of my main weaknesses as an investor has been selling too so trying to get better at that too. Rationale for selling, other than the above, is that I'm not sure I see much upside here on a 12 month basis given the guidance. Its a good business, and in better markets, you could see that BMY's predictability, cashflow, ROCE, long-term track record etc mean that it should be trading closer to 20x. However given I plan to be fully invested, if the market re-rates BMY then it'll probably re-rate other things which I'm in too. If the prices comes off materially, then I'd get back in. All the best for holders in the meantime. Adam |
Posted at 23/5/2024 15:05 by riverman77 Depends if you're a trader or a long term investor. I do a bit of both but treat BMY very much as a long term holding. I suspected it might fall today after good run, but frankly didn't think it was worth it to sell on the possibility I might be able buy back 10% cheaper. Also risky as there's always a possibility they announce some good news and it shoots up, or worse a bid comes in when you're not holding. |
Posted at 15/1/2024 14:51 by adamb1978 How much do you think she earns?!?! Net income of somewhere around £30m....so adding 0.01x to the multiple would probably cover her salary!!!Pleased that the board/CEO have recognised that their outwardly/investor facing capabilities needed improving either way. They don't get full value for the story/metrics |
Posted at 15/1/2024 08:27 by adamb1978 Good to see a Hear of IR appointed. BMY performs well though it I dont think its as investor friendly as it could be, and therefore share price probably not reflecting the true value of the company. Not sure its RNS-worthy mind you! |

Posted at 25/9/2023 12:07 by adamb1978 The company believe that AI isn't a threat to their business, though of course most companies will say that. Its a topic which I'd imagine would be repeated on further investor calls though so won't go unanswered.I'm more interested in what their plans are for their cash pile... |
