1gw, I think Blackrock also believed in the company until Numis warned of slowing revenue growth, with the fy 2014 TU.. I think they weren't expecting the summer profit warnings... and so decided to sell out....

Gordon - "I wonder if Blackrock were reasoning the same way when they started loaning out stock?" lol

Do you think RG witnessed the disaster of that play and thought - that's a good idea? ffs

Gordon - you don't think things out, do you mate?

Shroder - "Sometimes companies borrow stock in anticipation of something but don't actually follow through selling in the market." ??

Surely loan costs would make that impractical? Although an intension could be all that is needed or after?

STT - interesting thought.

If RG believes in the company and wants to acquire more then it would make perfect sense for him to loan out his stock to shorters. That way, they help to keep the price down and provide supply while he carries on adding, and in the meantime he picks up a fee for the loan.

I wonder if Blackrock were reasoning the same way when they started loaning out stock?

Nope, my link is unavailable.

I just had a look at datalend, there's no stock utilization showing for blinkx which may indicate stock borrowed, but not used.

Sometimes companies borrow stock in anticipation of something but don't actually follow through selling in the market.

..just a hunch though,

Andrew,

This wasn't all down to the blog..

The CMD provided some confort to investors...
Blackrock increased their stake after it...

However, the March 2014 TU, followed by Numis report showed slowing growth... desktop had been slowing for 18months, yet it wasn't until after the blog that blnx acknowledged it.... why didn't they react to slowing desktop revenues earlier....

In July blnx agreed with Numis' figures (think it was $260m) for this year, fy2015... However, just 4months later, they reduced their fy forecasts to $212m, a reduction of $50m..

This new lower revenue forecast was after the inflection point... given:
H2 is traditionally stronger than H1
we had passed the inflection point
and
this year was the 1st time we had a fy contribution from Rhythm

I would expect forecast to be higher than 2014's $248m...

I'm waiting to see what they have to say... anything < $220m will be very disappointing..

A strong outlook statement, together with revenue/profit growth will help the sp

Loaf - you might be right, although I thought we'd reached that point (i.e. tap turned off) in the November data, when the total shares owned started trending up for a while, but then Oppenheimer and Pictet disappeared.

Since the 2nd January data the total shares owned seems to have been stable in the 89-93m range. They've just updated it again this morning and the total is back to 92m, without any increase in either number of funds or number of institutions, and it looks like some "mid blend" style funds have notified an increase. [edit - but later in the morning back to the earlier 89m number]

Is this a coincidence - only 1 poster usually mentions 'Royal Flush'...and refers to anyone he wants to manipulate as 'my friend'...

or so we thought... Quil/Ken's post with link...

Mr 1 trader is back!
5 more days to trade, looks like every trick in the book will have to be played now this is the last opportunity we or anybody will have at buying BLNX at such a low price.
This is a royal flush my friends.

luafc - I accept your view my friend - time will be the judge. I hate the phrase “rose-tinted” it really has no meaning? To make serious money, and I have made serious money once or twice, you have to see potential, and act!

Too many people use phrases that hide their fear - I have no fear at all with this stock pick, never have! My money has been down from a long time back, and I have supported on drops.

This is a Royal Flush my friend, I will let the others prove me wrong!

We will always be one step (or possible two) behind the city with regard to data.

Lets face it, the Comscore stats we will have later this week were probably available at the beginning of the month via subscription.

What we maybe able to deduce (haven't used that word for ages) is those companies who do, have now acted in purchasing stock. One could also argue that short selling needed something to change their decision making in reversing short positions.

How much of that increase in stock on loan has RG picked up...?

interesting data 1gw, some of these funds do seem to be very small though

it seems that 23 funds sold out between 30 Dec and 30 Jan, disposing of 11m shares between them, most of those look like they would have gone between 25-30p

that is less than 500k shares each, so I doubt they have very large research departments

I wonder if RG is picking up shares this way, approaching them directly as he doesn't seem to have affected the share price much with his purchases

it will be nice to see him make a multi bagger here (of course!)

Gordon, it's important you include all the relevant information. A weather forecast for last month is of little use.

Avviva and Blackrock look to be the main sellers and they only have a few million left.

The tap has to be turned off at some point?
