Spyder thanks for a very informative post. I got out at 244, still perhaps a bit late, but I no longer hold through thick and thin - too often seen my profits eroded after a good rise. Any thoughts on how low it will go, 200 ish? Still believe this is a good company and the development of the bead technology is progressing well, but it does tend to move in big steps. Good thing you have just be watching Robin.

I think the most likely reason for the fall yesterday was the news that Boston Scientific have made a surprise move for Guidant. This has pretty much scuppered the J&J bid for Guidant and J&J are now widely expected to walk away having recently just renegotiated the bid price downwards to reflect problems at Guidant. It is hard to see J&J justifying to their stockholders a sudden change of heart regarding the value of Guidant. J&J are a very proud company and not given to sudden changes in direction.

Why does this matter to BII? Well, J&J had recently just agreed to license to Abbott the "rapid-exchange" system technology. It is thought that the U.S. Federal Trade Commission was only prepared to approve J&J's purchase of Guidant on the condition that it licensed out the rapid-exchange technology to a rival as a way of easing concerns about competition. The rapid-exchange system allows a doctor to place the stent into the body without need of an assistant to perform the procedure. The majority of stent procedures are now performed using this method, and it is the gold standard. Without access to this system or a very similar technology, this will have an impact on ABT's market share for DD stents. The licensing agreement is contingent upon J&J closing its acquisition of Guidant.

What is a bit bizarre about all of this, is that BII shares didn't move at all when ABT announced the agreement with J&J, and yesterday fell 9p on very light volume. Furthermore, with or without ABT's access to the Rx technology, BII shares are serious cheap in my opinion, as is likely to be demonstrated soon by the re-float of Lombard Medical on AIM, expected next week. LOM was basket case that has recently been turned around by a licensing deal for its AAA graft by Boston. A situation BII was in several years ago.

I have just recently added to my holdings in BII. Perhaps a bit too soon? It is always very difficult to call, markets are funny things as Dabchick says, but BII shares have a history of moving around in a 30% band, and we ought to be getting close to the bottom of this cycle.

Hi Robin, are you in or still watching and waiting. Any thoughts on what happens from here. Must admit I was hoping for a stronger reaction to the excellent news on the trial.

they may have given up out of boredom! Wouldn't blame them. This is often a share that has periods of activity interspersed with long periods of inactivity. Hopefully news soon on trials

thanks for your efforts Robin, any chance you could improve them further by making them go up!

Judging by the threads we read we obviously have similar tastes in shares.

graham - I have Knowing on filter now - please do not let one bitter liar poison a thread which I took the trouble to set up with decent charts - it was only two posts, which I felt the need to respond to with posts of my own - I will not need to respond to any of his nonsense again if he happens to turn up - I am sure you have seen such idiots before, and will do again - my apologies that he showed up here.

best wishes,
RoL

Knowing - you are so funny - he doesnt like the fact that when I research his tips spamming other threads and they turn out to be dogs that I tell him so.

I am consistent and honest Knowing - I dont like rampers - even clocktower asked you to stop ramping BKE. Knowing is currently spamming threads about IDN - which may or may not be one to look at - I havent researched it - when I picked him up on the IDN thread about his spamming, this is what I get - LOL

The posters on most threads know me over a period of time - have a look back at the posts Knowing - you will see no ramping there. People will judge you on what you say. Liars never prosper.
