RNS Number:1417N FTSE 30 June 2000 Technical Release GTE Corp: Takeover by Bell Atlantic Corp Changes in FTSE Indexes Following the acquisition of GTE Corp (USA) by Bell Atlantic Corp (USA), FTSE announces the following changes: INDEX CHANGE EFFECTIVE FROM START OF TRADING ON: FTSE All-World Index GTE Corp (2358194) will be 3 July 2000 deleted. Bell Atlantic Corp (2090571) will remain in the index with an increased share total of 2,720 million shares and be renamed Verizon Communications. FTSE World Index GTE Corp will be deleted. 3 July 2000 Bell Atlantic Corp will remain in the index with an increased share total and name change as above. FTSE World Index Ex- GTE Corp will be deleted. 3 July 2000 Multinationals Bell Atlantic Corp will remain in the index with an increased share total and name change as above.
