17/8/2017 19:11 | The SegWit2x proposal has been confirmed for adoption today and according to Jimmy Song it will activate 144 x 90 blocks after SegWit (currently expected on 23 August) and will result in a hard fork in November assuming the narrative doesn't change in the meantime. This is what has put a bit of a shove into Bitcoin Cash on the basis that we are now looking at 3 versions of Bitcoin come November. The drawback with SegWit2x is that there is currently no replay protection in the code, making the hard fork unnecessarily risky for users. This has the potential to shine a bad light on the "SegWit" concept - not that you can tell from the price performance of BTC. IMO this is not good for Bitcoin generally. I am disappointed with the posturing by influential groups that want to influence the way Bitcoin scales for their own interests at the risk of damaging the brand, as if they are oblivious to the risk. | compoundup
17/8/2017 17:05 | In 30 days bitcoin has gone from $2500 -> $4700 including bch. For something worth so much this could well be a world first. Haven't checked but surely it could be. | alexx
17/8/2017 16:36 | bch - on absolute tear. not sure what's happening but glad I continue to buy through the dip. | mcbeanburger
17/8/2017 15:51 | Bought a few iota, the idea of all users being equal appeals. Use of free micro payments surely good for long term. Blockchain surpassed. Seems good to spread the bitcoin risk about a bit as well. | alexx
17/8/2017 12:19 | the attack on btc-e was an attack on Russian infrastructure. the US is lining itself up to be the king pin of crypto. | mcbeanburger
17/8/2017 10:39 | 2769 - Russian link Some users on the PM's threads waiting for the governments of the world to bring bitcoin to zero [ anytime they choose ] seem destined to remain disappointed. They refuse to study the subject and are paying the price. | alexx
17/8/2017 10:35 | Isn't plexcoin the one that was advertised by someone on the gold thread. He was just after commission from people using his link. I registered for it as it cost nothing and later received an email, not from plexcoin, saying it was a scam. | alexx
17/8/2017 05:04 | Interesting that a mate of mine has subscribed in the Plexcoin ICO but only 40% have taken up the offer with only a few days to go. Surely there are getting just too many different coins? !! | oakville
17/8/2017 04:43 | i'll be surprised it gets there on this run tp | mcbeanburger
17/8/2017 03:50 | those volatility measures are nowhere near what was seen in start and end of 2013 but by the time it tests the 4900 and 5100 levels the search volume will be at new highs too, a crude sentiment reading tpaulbeaumont - 14 Jun 2017 - 12:46:41 - 2590 of 2774 as BTC has backed off a bit from an important level, volatility measures havent reached heights that marked significant highs in the past, kids on google have tho ;) | tpaulbeaumont
17/8/2017 03:46 | #2759 lol, what swrong with worshiping trees and living in mud huts! yes more "valuation" predictions in 6 figures+ mcb, we must be close, close to 5100 ;) Beyond that are as number of other rveersal target levels from the model but i wont post until its relevant | tpaulbeaumont
17/8/2017 02:46 | I've added 4 posts to about 18 that posted by others. if the number of posts = interim top, then we must be close. | mcbeanburger
17/8/2017 02:45 | miners are buying now imo and will switch with the price is right. | mcbeanburger

16/8/2017 18:39 | IOTA schmota | spadman
16/8/2017 18:39 | If I had a bitcoin for everyone who came up with a "white paper" I'd be a rich man. | spadman
16/8/2017 10:20 | That Iota looks interesting. Are the transactions recorded like blockchain? I wonder how secure it all is? If only two transactions are processed to process yours, in quiet times could this be exploited to vary the transaction amount? I read their site but it wasn't clear to me how you use them. Is there software and a wallet file like Bitcoin to send? | chinahere
16/8/2017 08:03 | Can't say I understand it all but these guys are pretty smart...IOTA is an open-source distributed ledger protocol that goes 'beyond blockchain' through its core invention of the blockless 'Tangle'. The IOTA Tangle is a quantum-proof Directed Acyclic Graph, with no fees on transactions & no fixed limit on how many transactions can be confirmed per second in the network. Instead, throughput grows in conjunction with activity in the network; the more activity, the faster the network. Unlike blockchain architecture, IOTA has no separation between users and validators; rather, validation is an intrinsic property of using the ledger, thus avoiding centralization. IOTA is initially focused on serving as the backbone of the emerging Internet-of-Things (IoT). For a more in depth look at the technical design of IOTA read their https://iota.org/IOT | patientcapital
15/8/2017 23:20 | I imagine china is talking real terms not nominal price. Personally I think anywhere over 100k real terms would mean Bitcoin has had a significant impact. 10k 50k 100k 500k 1m all possible over time as long as there is value. It's all a question of utility, how many people make use of x utility. Scaling is a pretty big deal. | spadman
15/8/2017 22:50 | china Don't think your $178k is anywhere near high enough. Hyperinflation episodes typically reduce the value of fiat by between 10 and a 100 billion times. That means a $50 billion loaf of bread. Of course bitcoin would need to last long enough, 10-15 years? | alexx
15/8/2017 22:12 | satellite schmatellite | spadman
15/8/2017 21:23 | IOTA worth a look. Mind blowing stuff. Check stock BLU for nano payments too. Satoshipay (31% owned by BLU) doing PoC with IOTA. Results due soon. | patientcapital
15/8/2017 20:27 | I'm all for more of these hard forks as they appear to offer extra 'free' crypto and further price rises. I'm sure it won't last forever, but anyone care to guess what will be the top Dollar price of Bitcoin? I'll go first. $178,634 Mania Schmania! | chinahere
15/8/2017 20:06 | tpaulbeaumont ancestral quotes: Fire "schmire" Gold "schmold" Wheel "schmeel" Electricity "schmectricity" Penicillin "schmenicillin" Automobile "schmutomobile" Planes "schmanes" Bitcoin "schmitcoin" ;) | spadman |
