Interesting article - thanks.

"According to Wood Mackenzie, the number of risky deepwater frontier wells increased from six in 2016 to 21 in 2018, although only two made commercial discoveries and both were in Guyana"

This shows the virtually impossible task BPC had of progressing the project during the low oil price period.

I think some whispers might start. Trades are a bit suspect if you ask me. The flip around is a bit of a sign, imo

M9 . . What will cars and trucks be running on , oil fired owner stations, etc. . .

Oil will still have a use as in much more fuel efficient engines, but the amount used will decline and there is enough to satisfy the demand from proven but still untapped resources. . . .
Saving the planet demos got everyone's attention, company's like Shell et al are investing heavily in non carbon activities for the future . . . . New technologies like solar, battery, hydrogen , cold fusion and others yet to be publicised are where the next fortunes will be made . . . .

Given that Potter said some years ago it would be be 8 years from discovery to production why would you invest in a new oil field when it's clear the writing is on the wall for oil . . . . . There are enough proven oil resources , the environment is the new kid on the block . . .
Of course you don't want to hear this , cos it shatters dreams, how'd you all do at the races ??

Huummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

It’s not over just yet.

There seems to be a massive wedge forming on the BPC graph and we are near the tip now. The lower volumes as the pattern draws its self out over weeks and months is normal (apparently!)

We could be set for a strong push up soon.

Are you on the right side of the trade . . . . . 🤔

From the Times today . . .
Writing’s on the wall for oil firms, say fund managers
Several big fund managers believe that oil companies should shut themselves down because soon they will become impossible to invest in as the world switches to renewable energy.

A survey of 39 fund managers with $10.2 trillion under management found that 24 per cent wanted the oil industry “to wind down their businesses and return cash to shareholders”. All but two of the funds said that oil stocks would not be attractive investments within ten years if they failed to respond to climate risks.

Among respondents to the survey by the UK Sustainable Investment and Finance Association and the Climate Change Collaborative were leading names such as Aviva, Legal & General Investment Management, M&G Investments, Invesco, Hermes Asset Management and Schroders.

It is sad but it now seems game over. They could not close a simple deal. The genius of the lamp which is the Specialist now has serious concerns.

It was fun while we fooled ourselves in believing in fairy tales - we should have known that if it is too good to be true it probably is not :(
