06/6/2005 16:48 | Management shouldn't try to influence the share price. They should run the company. Only if your share price is *way* too low, then you buy back shares instead of paying dividends. If you can't afford that you'll have to do something else. As long as the share price is so low you're a takeover target (shareholders have lost much money on recent takeovers, take a look at Normandy, they would have earned much more if Normandy was still trading in the market..) and you can't use shares to finance acquisitions. | kojak78
06/6/2005 16:43 | DD, My mistake, it was indeed the COO. Let's just agree to differ on publicity - those who know me understand it's a beef I have with many AIM stock managements, including AVM. Still expect good news on the exploration front, sooner rather than later. | pecker1
06/6/2005 15:16 | Do the management care ? What are their emoluments ? | ![]() corrientes
06/6/2005 14:19 | DoobyDave, "Patience" is not much use to a long-term holder who may have to sell up now for their own particular reasons. Nor is "badly undervalued" likely to make them feel good when they do sell. Gordon Toll has now been on board for two months. Has he been on a fact-finding trip? If yes, has he been encouraged by what he has found? Remember, the CEO is leaving because he wasn't up to the job. Zeravshan is a tough nut to crack. Production figures and costs speak for themselves. The share price suggests, however unfairly,a credibility gap on the Tajik projects, allowing shorters like Biz to have a field day. Some positive exploration news would come in handy now too. Someone has to be bottom of the class - the most lowly rated in terms of production oz/resouces etc., but AVM shareholders are entitled to ask why does it have to be AVM. Have management done all that could reasonably be expected of them to promote AVM to the investing public? | pecker1
06/6/2005 13:54 | I am patient, I bought Avocet shares all the way up, the lowest price was 13.5 or so.. I would rather buy Avocet at 70 than DRDGold at 33, the recent profits in Agnico-Eagle and DRDGold are now invested in Avocet, too. I own no other gold shares anymore. If we go lower, I'll sell my physical gold and buy more. Two years down the road POG could hit 600 and production could very well reach 430,000. Then the p/e would be 1.25 At least then the downslide will stop.. | kojak78
06/6/2005 13:47 | I'm still a bit upset about being called dogsbreath ..... sniff :o( Biswell , I suggest that you take some time out , look deep inside yourself and come back when you are ready to apologize. | bionicdog
06/6/2005 13:29 | Kojak, You're right of course that Avocet is badly undervalued. Once the short-term stuff is done and dusted, and the company RNSs can't be misread by people incapable of seeing beyond their own noses, AVM shareholders will once again prosper. The obvious comment re Novagold et. al. is, why the blazes are these companies valued on speculative production 5 years out? This too is ludicrous and badly needs changing. Patience required - it'll all pan out in the end, unless of course folk have the staying power of a mayfly... DD | ![]() doobydave
06/6/2005 13:13 | current production is 280000 once all mines are fully ramped up. cash costs 225. last quarter figures annualized give us 200000. optimistic case with taror and chore would yield annual production figures of 430000. the past is the past, it is absolutely ridiculous to value avocet on old figures when others (for instance novagold) are valued based on production 5 years down the road. you could easily advertise avocet as a 500,000 oz producer with 16 mio oz in resources. have you looked at other miners? bema? novagold? those "projects" are of very low quality. cerro casale is profitable from us$350 before recent inflation, so now it's probably 500 or so. taror and chore have metallurgical problems, admitted, but the grades are far better than at other mining projects. and don't forget, the russians spent us$500 mio on those mines that aren't even considered in any valuation study. this is the best gold mining stock in the world. period. | kojak78
06/6/2005 13:12 | Bis - I don't see any ramping on AVM - just holders discussing the + and the - of the company. Just today holders are being critical of the AVM PR. All views are fine - but you tend to lower it to personal slanging and smugness - nobody is interested in that, now are they? Just keep it to your point without reposting your old posts. | ![]() dixi
06/6/2005 12:52 | I assumed it was all the management shuffling/churn that was unsettling holders. Even with my very limited level of research the production numbers and costs are as I expected. Have to say I'm reasonably happy with the shareprice performance over the last few years! | ![]() taylor20
06/6/2005 12:44 | So as I understand it , you can post a whole array of price targets , then later pick the closest one. | bionicdog
06/6/2005 12:42 | Bis - you haven't been kicked off Oxus, now have you. Keep it factual and remove your smugness and people may listen, otherwise you'll be posting on an old Oxus thread also. It is your choice. Remember you have been wrong more than you have been right so far. With all your interest in POG etc - you got any longs that are worth a look elsewere??? | ![]() dixi
06/6/2005 12:41 | Here you are dogsbreath biswell - 30 May'05 - 10:04 - 104 of 115 edit Sure GOLD is oversold in the SHORT term, as is the dollar overbought, Nothing goes up and up forever in markets without pauses. I posted the other week that $420 was a resistance level that would take some cracking. So it has proved, gold should be trading at $425 today according to the way I look at charts, and it isn't. why Cos wed sees the Holland vote and so the ramifications of another NO vote sink in and the market stagnates. In the meantime note how Palladium is sinking now $-12 down today. Note how it leads GOLD in the downs and lags GOLD in the ups. Palladium has been a leading indicator this year V GOLD, and any relief rally for GOLD will be very short lived as will any dollar fall. The best I can concede under extreme pressure is $425 like I said, and I'm only saying that to keep bulls happy. After such a move if indeed it happens as we are now in strange times re the Euro, I see a hard move downwards of -$50 plus coming. B | biswell
06/6/2005 12:33 | I don't recall you saying that gold would go to $425 , but I do remember you posting this. "Re GOLD I have posted that the trickle back would not go above $420, and the expected fight back in oil would not last. Oil to fall below $40 pretty soon now." | bionicdog
06/6/2005 12:27 | AVM share price did not want to rise above SMA ( 8 ) see chart above .....came back, this is bearish B | biswell
06/6/2005 12:25 | macd heading down......60p on the way GOLD around $425 which is what I was expecting would happen short term....can supply post why if sufficient requests made. When present oil spike gets stuffed, and oil drops hard I expect gold stocks to get toasted B | biswell |
