Yep....BOD are not up to the job..IMO

If they are to make any progress they need to reduce costs down to $800 oz otherwise the deal with banks and lenders will not be favourable.

I agree that a takeover /farm in is necessary. This RNS from Feb looks like it was heading in that direction.

"Aureus Mining Inc., ("Aureus" or the "Company"), the TSX and AIM listed West African Gold Producer, announces that a Special Committee has been formed to conduct a review of strategic options to enhance shareholder value. The Special Committee is comprised of three independent, non-executive directors, Jean-Guy Martin, Loudon Owen and David Netherway with Mr. Owen serving as its Chair. As previously announced, RBC Capital Markets is serving as financial advisor to the Company."

Note the absence of Redding. He had shown even by then that he was incapable of developing the whole goldfield.

They will be bankrupt soon and they will pick up the assets for a fraction of the costs.I had really hoped this company would be a success as it's in a very poor part of world and offered some potential for skilled employment etc. But just not to be. I will give it a couple more weeks at most.

On a different topic. I am surprised no one has tried to take over aue. Private investor have been doubling down so frequently but no mover by the big players in the industry . What do they know we don't.

What can they say ?? What did they say about earlier delay? What did they say about the relentless dilution ??What o you expect them to say . And if they say the truth do u think there is any chance you will even be able to see your holding. This group of management Would even fail deliver returns to shareholders . if they had been given 99.9 % pure gold to sell .

Stupid? I promised myself I'd never invest in a dodgy co again. I have. Investec said they were top line..they ain't. It has put me out of the market. Simple. Stupid? I'm gone as soon as I can as close to break even as poss. Stupid? I hope I never give the opportunity to say the word again.

I'm not sure brave is the word I would use but agree with your first comment. Ignoring the fact that AUE looks as though it will sink under its own debt with the shut-down costing 2K Oz a week, releasing cyanide into the local environment due to a problem that really should have been flagged up doesn't sit too well tbh!

Claim to have over $5m cash so headroom providing the discharge in managed and signed off quickly. Usual company spin regarding routine maintenance but pity they weren't more proactive to prevent the escape.Could be a buying opportunity for the brave or death knell for the company.

Investors dumping stock as, based on the Q1 figures and the effluent leakage RNS, there is a high chance this will go in to administration. IMHO.

Alternatives might be a massive placing or, more likely, a debt for equity swap IMHO.
