USA plans revival of uranium sector
12 May 2020

Share
The US nuclear industry had its "best year ever" in 2019, as it "led the world" in generating more than 809 terawatt hours of electricity, Rita Baranwal, assistant secretary for nuclear energy at the Department of Energy (DOE), said yesterday. Despite this achievement, the country's ability to produce domestic nuclear fuel is "on the verge of a collapse", she added.

Aura seem to have some pretty good projects with one they reckon is a world class uranium project -

Bit of a strange one -

Aura is in the enviable position of possessing a construction-ready uranium project which the board believes is one of the most compelling uranium development projects in the world

Uranium supply ‘fragile and precarious’ with shortages inevitable from 2023
By Robin Bromby - May 14, 2020

If Uranium prices continue their upward trajectory then i suppose uranium miners may well be of interest -

Shrinking numbers of uranium miners and explorers
The figures Mr Borshoff presents are sobering.

In 2011, there were about 420 companies around the world exploring for or mining uranium.

Today that number is 62: of those, 10 are government associated or multi-national uranium producers; seven are listed producers.

There are 18 potential developers, although 30% of those have diversified into battery metals to survive and some having threatened projects due to geopolitical or technical reasons.

Then there are 27 explorers with what Mr Borshoff describes as “limited to non-existent resources” and most of which are looking to diversify or move out of uranium entirely.

Pre-Fukushima, in 2011, the prevailing uranium price was US$73/lb.

In April 2020 it was US$32.50/lb.

Statement re media speculation

Thomas Cook Group notes the media speculation regarding a potential sale of its Northern Europe business. Thomas Cook Group confirms that it has received a highly preliminary and unsolicited indicative offer from Triton Partners for its Northern Europe business, comprising its tour operator and airline in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark.

The group is currently evaluating this offer alongside the ongoing strategic review of its Group Airline, announced in February 2019. The group has received multiple bids, including for the whole, and parts, of the airline business and the Board of Thomas Cook Group will consider these approaches with the aim of maximising value for all shareholders.

There can be no certainty that a transaction will be concluded with Triton Partners. Thomas Cook Group will make a further announcement as appropriate.

Interactive Investor have decided to up there fees again, from £22.50 per quarter to now £80... I find this Absolutely unacceptable.

If anybody can recommend a cheaper broker let me know.

I am considering going to iweb-sharedealing(Halifax) for a fixed £5 a trade or X-O(Jarvis) for £5.95, neither have monthly, yearly, or inactivity fees like ii

I dont always trade every month, so I dont want recurring account fees...

Thanks.

KAV

Some nice words in the morning note from the highly respected mining analyst John Meyer at share price Angel ref: LSE:KAV / www.kavangoresources.com /Tw*tt*r = #KAV

Kavango Resources (KAV LN) 3.6p, Mkt Cap £5.7m – Laws of probability to be rewritten after Kavango strikes mineralisation in first and second drill holes under Karoo sand in Botswana

Kavango, which is exploring for a large-scale bushveld igneous-type mineralisation reports results from a second drill hole in Botswana.

The team which are highly experienced in the geology of the region have used geophysical data and remote sensing to establish drilling locations.

Remarkably, the first drill hole hit mineralisation under the sandy Karoo sediments
Even more remarkably the second drill hole is reported to have also hit mineralisation including copper in chalcopyrite with a 1.5% XRF gun reading. X-Ray Frequency gun readings are not considered to be reliable due to their potential for miss-reporting but we do place some value on the readings when in the honorable hands of Messrs. Foster and Moles.

The first drill hole hit a 200m zone of intensely altered rock with indicative cobalt values of up to 0.9%, averaging 0.2% cobalt and >70m of elevated copper, zinc, lead and nickel values.

Conclusion: Kavango is worth watching and we await results from drill core assays. While we never doubted the skill of the geological team we are surprised and impressed to see two sets of mineralised results in so short a time frame. Well done team!

AURA ENERGY LIMITED

("Aura" or the "Company")

TIRIS URANIUM PROJECT DEFINITVE FEASIBILITY STUDY CONTINUES TO ACHIEVE MILESTONE TARGETS

FIRST YELLOW CAKE PRODUCED DURING TESTWORK PHASE

PRODUCT WITHIN SALEABLE IMPURITY LIMITS

Aura Energy Limited (AIM:AURA / ASX:AEE) is pleased to announce that as part of the Tiris Uranium Project Definite Feasibility Study (the "Tiris DFS") it has produced its first samples of yellowcake product.

Importantly, the yellowcake produced is regarded as 'saleable' with impurity levels in the product within the acceptable levels relative to the ASTM standards.

The UO(4) yellowcake was produced during the Aura test work phase being conducted in the Australian Nuclear Science & Technology Organisation (ANSTO Minerals) laboratories.

The precipitation test work will continue with further optimisation of the product planned in the next stage of work at ANSTO Minerals.

Peter Reeve, Aura Energy's Executive Chairman said "The production of yellowcake is a true milestone for Aura Energy's push to achieve producer status. To achieve yellowcake production from our site in the Sahara Desert has required commitment and stamina from our dedicated technical team. This yellowcake production is a key part of the Tiris DFS and will assist in marketing studies and progression of our financing discussions."

From LSE:Posted on Hot Copper. Can't guarantee whether its genuine, but worth sharing. 'I just spoke with John Madden (AEE) he advised that everything is on track for an update to the Haggan Project by the end of May (Scoping Study) there was delays due to the harsh cold weather no one would work in the freezing conditions so the drilling was delayed, which is fair enough I wouldn't either. Also the DFS for Tiris is on track for completion the end of June. So we should get an update then. As for the water issue. They have got water within the 20km radius which will see them through atleast the first few years after that they will need to bring it in from further away which they have located and is in plentiful supply but shouldnt be too much of an issue expense wise as the site will be up and running and established by then. I hope this helps.'
