02/9/2010 16:51 | sundaymonday you would have said the same thing ten years ago when the insurers made Helphire fight for every penny - they recovered big time before faltering again! I expect to receive nothing, but I think ACE might survive and re-group under new management, even if I have been squeezed out as an owner | nicky name
02/9/2010 15:17 | and collect the masses of cash owed to ACE by the insurance industry. The simple problem is: your premise is false. Stand to receive nothing or next to nothing. | sundaymonday
02/9/2010 15:15 | Just a thought, and just in case Simon Cawkwell or Lord Orphan are scanning these messages, does anybody think it possible that Acromas Holdings which controls Drive Assist and the AA could make an offer for ACE at these levels? Steve Evans's back would seem to be against the wall now as 50% plus shareholder, with no offer he will be massively diluted and have little influence. His majority shareholding must have made any previous takeover unlikely. But ACE could be merged with Drive Assist who could manage it and collect the masses of cash owed to ACE by the insurance industry. It was no secret that Acromas wanted to build a substantial motoring section to sell off probably by means of an ipo. In fact I think that this plan has been shelved until markets improve. As Acromas clearly had a spare £100 million recently to offer for Nestor (rebuffed?), it would seem to have the money available if it wanted to take out ACE? Any views would be much appreciated. I realise that this is probably a longshot, but I am loathe to sell my last few remaining ACE shares only for dramatic last minute developments, unlikely as I feel they are. | nicky name
02/9/2010 14:36 | Clearly not worth 3p or even 2p per share. My estimate is about 0.4p but I guess that could be slightly low. | sundaymonday
02/9/2010 08:40 | Think I'll reduce my price target for a DCB down to 1p! | double6
01/9/2010 23:24 | The North; thanks Had some GKP 18 months ago and sold at 600% profit, so swings and round abouts really. If you can get 6 out of 10 right , you're doing well in this game. Generally hold gold stocks at the moment (have done for last 9 months ) and seeing good (50% + gains on several with no duds yet). Oilers; have some AFR. All the best. | highly geared
01/9/2010 22:54 | Not bust but now (run?) and owned (more or less) by M.S by the looks of things... i wonder what they will impliment next... i guess more will come to light after the AGM... Highly Geared try GKP or XEL.... simples..IMO DYOR though before you buy.... TN | thenorth
01/9/2010 19:43 | £2k at 62p about 2 years ago in these on anticipation of a recovery to £1 then out; uuummm didn't quite work. Should have sold when it briefly went back into the 20's. So about £75 back ex dealing costs! Now need a 30 bagger to get back to square one; suggestions on a post card please\! | highly geared
01/9/2010 17:34 | Sorry to hear that ACE is effectively bust, holders. I hope it was only a very small part of your porty | sundaymonday

01/9/2010 13:42 | Did he really write that? If he was so easily taken in by the credit hire boys then I question his judgement! | ossies
01/9/2010 13:33 | I did amazingly well on these, losing only 67% when I sold last year at 23p. I had met the main directors and was impressed by their drive, grasp of detail and promises of improvement to cash collection. I wasn't the only one taken in. I regret that my greed for a profit overcame my distaste for a business model that, to be profitable, entirely depends on perverse incentives that lead to massive wastefulness and consequent higher insurance premiums for all of us. 01/9/2010 12:53 | Cawkwell I told you about this one some time ago. | sundaymonday
01/9/2010 12:44 | yes agree could be good to short. | bisiboy
01/9/2010 12:37 | 10p is unrealistic, more like 8p to sell. It's not 75%, more like 95% new equity. So your old 8p share might be worth 5% of 8p ie 0.4p. Which is why I can't understand why people are sticking around when they can get more than that today. | sundaymonday |
