RNS No 9384c ATLANTIC RICHFIELD CO 26th November 1997 Roger E. Truitt Named President of ARCO Products Co. Succeeding Retiring Senior VP William C. Rusnack LOS ANGELES, Nov. 26 -- Roger E. Truitt, whose 25-year ARCO career includes a variety of major assignments around the world, has been named President of ARCO Products Company succeeding Senior Vice President William C. Rusnack who has elected to retire after 31 years with the company The change is effective immediately. Truitt, 52, has also been elected an ARCO Senior Vice President by the Board of Directors. In announcing Truitt's appointment to head ARCO's refining and marketing division, Executive Vice President Anthony G. Fernandes said, "Roger brings a broad operational background and a keen understanding of the petroleum products business. We know he will make important contributions to the company as it seeks to strengthen its competitive position." Truitt joined ARCO as an engineer in 1972 after earning a B.S. degree in chemical engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla. He spent much of his early career in refining, engineering and product supply assignments. He became Vice President of Crude Oil Marketing in 1985, then rose to President of ARCO Transportation's Alaskan Division in 1991. Three years later he became Managing Director, ARCO British Ltd. Truitt returned briefly to ARCO Products Company in 1994 as Senior Vice President of Manufacturing, Engineering and Technology. Later that year, he rejoined the international oil and gas division as Senior Vice President- Australia/Asia. In his most recent assignment as Senior Vice President-Asia Region he was based in Singapore. Rusnack, 53, joined ARCO as a chemist in 1966 and went on to hold increasingly responsible positions in several ARCO operating companies and on the Corporate staff. Over the past decade, he was ARCO Vice President of Planning (1987-1990), President of ARCO Transportation Company (1990-1993), and President of ARCO Products Company (since 1993). "Under Bill's leadership, the refining and marketing division has made significant progress in upgrading its West Coast operations," said Executive Vice President Anthony G. Fernandes in announcing Rusnack's retirement. "Bill brought a greater customer focus to APC and a vigorous pursuit of new business opportunities. He implemented ARCO's Clean Fuels program in California, negotiated the leasing of more than 260 Thrifty Oil stations and the expansion of ARCO's retail marketing into Canada, and guided plans to build the only polypropylene manufacturing facility in the Western U.S." In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Rusnack was active as a community volunteer, chairing the boards of the Los Angeles Urban League, Los Angeles Educational Partnership, and the Economic Development Corporation of L.A.
