RAMP JOB COMING on Japanese stocks?:

Tokyo Stocks Rebound as Yanagisawa Exits

Highlights:

Tokyo stock prices rebounded, the yen rose and government bond prices fell on Monday after Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi confounded skeptics and stunned investors by replacing his top banking regulator in a move seen by many analysts as a prelude to aggressive bank reforms.

The Nikkei share average, which was down more than two percent in the morning, rebounded to trade down 0.95 percent by 2:20 p.m. (0520 GMT) in the minutes after the changes to Koizumi's cabinet were announced.

...and SINGapore throwing good money after bad:
Singapore, Sept. 2 (Bloomberg) -- The Singapore government agreed to pump about $380 million into Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing Ltd., as the unprofitable chipmaker offered shares to existing shareholders at half of their Friday closing price.
...
The shares fell as much as 48 cents to S$1.62 and traded at S$1.63 as of 12:29 p.m. in Singapore.
...
Chartered Semiconductor's market value peaked at about S$25.5 billion in March 2000 and has since fallen to about S$2.3 billion, shedding the equivalent of 15 percent of Singapore's gross domestic product, which is about S$147 billion.

Anyone else think that the USA fudged their market at the UK close and after on Wednesday, expecting a good response from the far east early Thursday morning. The far east markets did not respond in the way expected. (HS down and Nikkei up a little). Anyone else think that the last hour and a half of USA (Dow market) were again fudged on Thursday (Note Nasdaq down). If so, then despite an excellent turn around in the USA on Thursday, the response from the far east this morning gets one thinking! Discuss in no more than 2000 carefully chosen words.

edit: Nikkei heading for all time low!
