07/12/2019 08:56 | 'Quantum computers will advance far quicker than predicted, leaving enterprises scrambling to become quantum safe. By the end of 2020 it will be evident that RSA 2048 will be doomed in under 5 years when a nation state like China or the U.S. will have a quantum computer capable of decrypting current encryption paradigms”&mda | hazl
05/12/2019 18:52 | 'Amazon ultimately discovered that 17 customers had complaints in the U.S. concerning hoverboard fire and explosion risks, while five similar complaints covered other products with large lithium batteries, such as electric scooters, according to internal investigation documents. Late on Dec. 10, the company's head of retail in North America, Doug Herrington, sent an urgent note to Jeff Wilke, Amazon's head of consumer products, according to court documents: The company was about to take the unusual step of temporarily removing all hoverboards. "We are concerned that these reports might be indicative of a safety issue of these products across Chinese manufacturing," Mr. Herrington wrote, noting that 245,000 hoverboards had been sold on the site in the previous 30 days. He noted that at least a quarter of those hadn't been delivered yet, and that many of those that had been delivered likely hadn't been opened yet because they were holiday gifts. He added there wasn't enough information to issue a recall of the products already sold, but they would give charging and riding tips to buyers in "a non-alarmist way." Mr. Wilke responded, "Wow. Tough decision, but the right one. Please keep me posted. Let's make sure we assume our email will be headline news." Amazon's letter to consumers, sent Dec. 12, made no mention of fires. It told consumers there had been news reports of safety issues and said they could contact customer service to initiate a return if they wanted. "With only 17 isolated, unverified complaints across thousands of hover board products and brands, we messaged customers to provide factual, informative, 'non-alarmist' guidance," the Amazon spokeswoman said. "It would have been irresponsible to incite 'alarm' or panic based on such limited data." | hazl

30/11/2019 11:13 | Whether the top of last week will mark the end of the longest bull market in U.S. stocks remains to be seen. It is too early to tell, but it is also extremely late in the historical cycles of bull markets. A top in this bull market is due, even overdue | hazl
30/11/2019 10:56 | Advertising has made a huge impact on the way we consume our media, products and services. It began with the first screen, television. Thanks to advertising, we can enjoy our favorite programs, sports and news at no cost to us. Then came the desktop, the second screen. Advertising gives us the option to view content for free as opposed to paying for a subscription. Eventually, advertising entered the third screen, our mobile devices—which, thanks to ads, provide us with free news, free weather, and the occasional free dancing-baby or cat video. Advertising can have the same impact on the fourth screen — inside our cars. thanks to steveoc | hazl

26/10/2019 13:44 | "The US markets are within a couple of days distance from their historic highs – and this is happening amidst growing public bearishness. Public opinion polls are near bearish extremes. Hedge funds (another group of geniuses) are holding historically low percentages of stocks. And now buying of puts by small traders is near historic extremes. Either the crowd has become savvier than ever – or it is about to miss yet another upswing. You decide. In the background – heading into Christmas the market is entering a period of positive seasonality." | hazl |
