13/4/2011 12:50 | Nearly all retailers flying today. Inflation lower than expected yesterday. Unemployment came in lower today - too much gloom in the market imo. CR | ![]() cockneyrebel
13/4/2011 06:08 | They're trained to say that mr. Not likely to say they're struggling & sold one pair of stockings all week. | ![]() bobby.ifa
12/4/2011 22:01 | There is nothing wrong with this company, I popped into two of my local Laura Ashley stores this week and just asked them how things are going. The assistants at both stores said business was very brisk and people were buying lots of home furnishings and using the online shopping to buy aswell as look before popping in store to buy. | ![]() mreasygoing
12/4/2011 21:12 | well I have mine on as we speak, and my French Connection panties - very comfortable they are too. CR | ![]() cockneyrebel
12/4/2011 20:44 | According fashion expert in local paper they reckon flowery dresses are going to be the in thing this summer. | ![]() paqman
12/4/2011 20:03 | Anyone read WGB's results today? Doesn't sound like the home furnishings there are hurting. So if home furnishings market is firm, and internet sales at ALY are firm then it's only the flowery clothing here that's finding it tough - or is it? John Lewis say fashion sales rose 16% last week. 08/4/2011 17:33 | Crookers, I've seen APG etc recently too - let's face it, you buy so many stocks, some of them are going to go up and some go down (a suggestion: buy a investment trust that invests in penny stocks and esoterica and leave it to the market - you have so many stocks that any micro-cap trust will do as well or badly) envirovision i have been buying Irish Sov debt, Intel under $20, Campbell Soup, Gagfah, but mainly writing Puts in AZN, GSK, SANofi Aventis, and looking to buy HFD, HOME when the news stinks in a few months still like MCKS and am holding watching ITV,LAD..... | ![]() ydderf
08/4/2011 16:44 | I always said you ought to be in 'care' Frauddy - didn't mean you to take it literally - even tho your only hope for buying decent stocks is to follow me :-) Seen SCPA lately - of course you have, you're knocking that one of mine too - lol! CR | ![]() cockneyrebel
08/4/2011 16:42 | the clown has bought a million quids worth of CARE - and turned it into £500K over the past year :-) Great investing - in the most raging bull market in 10 years he's halved his money - that takes some doing even by Frauddy's standards! CR | ![]() cockneyrebel
08/4/2011 15:31 | ydderf, so what are you buying or holding of late then? | ![]() envirovision
08/4/2011 14:11 | it is a bit like water into wine isn't it - real incomes are less than last year and inflation is also 5% higher but sales are still ahead.....you might like to explain how this is possible crookney, or have you got religion and asking your followers simply to belive in the work of the crook? | ![]() ydderf
08/4/2011 10:34 | Let's suppose ALY's modest Uk retail like-for-like decline continues and stores continue to close: a possible scenario, given the macro-economic circumstances. The UK sales decline though will be mitigated by increasing franchise sales overseas. My back of the envelope calculation, based on the above assumptions, gives eps for the yaer of about 1.5p. But then there's over 5 pence of cash on the balance sheet. Take a conservative PE rating of 10 gives a fair value of 20p per share. So I'm waiting to buy back in myself at a significant discount to 20p, as I'm a cardinal pessimist. If I miss the boat, so be it: there are other clearer bargains available. And, as always, good luck to holders: I'm never churlish about missing the boat, if that is what happens. | ![]() cjohn
07/4/2011 13:40 | doesn't look like i have missed the bottom Crookney, I fully erxpect to buy at sub 16p as the uk retail horror story unfolds....HFD is on my radar too, but the lows in the sector are still a few months off probably......it takes a while for the penny to drop, you are a good example of someone needing extra time to see that things have changed, i will try to be patient with you my friend - harking back to Hornby is a little sad I think.... | ![]() ydderf
07/4/2011 13:28 | Indeed. 18p on the cards very soon. Pity poor investors the spiv thread enticed in yesterday. | ![]() mechanical trader
07/4/2011 10:29 | This is soon likely to come under renewed pressure imo and will resume its downward trend, as pressures on retailers build. | ![]() clocktower
06/4/2011 18:22 | You're a bit lonely on here, so I thought I'd say hi. How are you today ? | ![]() mreasygoing
06/4/2011 16:29 | LOL LOL LOL LOL the spiv boys having a good day. Make the most of it lads. I hear prices are coming down. Hmmmmmmmm ................ you can guess the rest. | ![]() mechanical trader
06/4/2011 15:43 | Sanity returning - afraid you've missed the bottom Frauffy lol! CR | ![]() cockneyrebel
06/4/2011 11:22 | I'd go for FCCN by a mile - it's gonna multibag over a few years imo - looks the best thing I've bought since Hornby 10 years ago. MKS breaking out, NXT breaking out, TED at new highs - all coming in far better than the 'anal-lists' expected - retail is oversold as far as clothing co's go imo and also certain home upgrade and repair sector too - like HWDN and WGB imo. Everyone keeps saying retail is bad, everyone has shunned retail - that's the time to buy retail imo. Retail has a terrific way of bouncing back sooner and stronger than expected and I'm buying retail now while everyone hates them. I dare say come december when LFL compares with a month when we had really bad snow last year then the numbers will look great - then the anal's will be yelling 'buy retail' imo.
