22/7/2015 19:57 | Telegraph market report... Meanwhile, chip designer ARM Holdings took a hammering after one of its biggest customers, Apple, revealed sales and iPhone shipments fell short of market expectations. Apple’s disappointing results overshadowed ARM’s 32pc jump in second-quarter profits, driven by royalties from devices such as the iPhone 6. While some analysts cast doubt over the strength of the smartphone market, Julian Yates of Investec said “the company has not seen any material signs of slowing in its end markets”. ARM shares fell 69p, or 6.6pc, to 970p - its lowest level in six months. | ![]() philanderer

22/7/2015 08:44 | Yes,they look fine - eps up 37% on 2014 half-year. Outlook ARM enters the second half of 2015 with a robust pipeline of opportunities for licensing. Available industry data for the second quarter, being the shipment period for ARM's Q3 royalties, points to a small sequential increase in industry revenues. Royalty revenue can grow faster than the overall industry due to increasing royalty per chip in mobile devices, and share gains beyond mobile. Assuming macroeconomic uncertainty does not further impact consumer spending we expect overall Group dollar revenues for full year 2015 to be in-line with current market expectations. Simon Segars, Chief Executive Officer, said: "Q2 2015 has been a strong quarter for ARM with a highly diverse range of leading companies choosing to license ARM's latest processors and physical IP for their future product developments. ARM has been investing in advanced technology products for mobile devices, automotive applications and enterprise infrastructure, and in Q2 ARM signed licences for many of these new products. This licensing activity will help to grow the royalty revenue opportunity for years to come. As the addressable market for ARM technology grows, we continue to invest in the development of innovative products to support long-term returns for shareholders." 21/7/2015 20:56 | Nearly time to see if they`ve made a good call ;-) ARM Holdings is a closely watched Footsie share and last week Investec went to 'buy' from 'hold' ahead of Wednesday's revelations, seeing it as at an attractive entry point for investors. "The stock has underperformed the market by 12% in the last three months, and is at a c.25% discount as well as the bottom of its five-year valuation range. We foresee no material surprises at the results and expect numbers to be in line," said Julian Yates. Key to the investment case, reckons the broker, is the group's historic licence signings for its technology, which will underpin future royalty growth.. It keeps its long term price target of 1140p on the shares, which is a healthy distance from the current price of 1,042p. Proactiveinvestors .co.uk | ![]() philanderer
