13/7/2007 19:14 | i visit the far east and china (not india) every couple of years and, inevitably, there's a "new city" sprouted up somewhere I go... or a new railway (eg see recent announcement of Thai/Malaysia rail project)... these are not small scale things when you consider that these are economies, based on demographics, that can potentially be 6 to 12 times the size of "the west".... they've only just started!! with the right politico-economic systems demographics will win out in the end!! reegards, | ![]() sogoesit
13/7/2007 16:01 | There again the real growth figures might not be higher as stated in the past...pure speculation and hype...this might even bring commodity prices down due to overcapacity... | ![]() diku
13/7/2007 13:39 | You are half right Diku, the figures are massaged... but down. They will really scare the rest of the world if they declare (actual) 20%+ growth. But more importantly, commodity prices would rocket to new levels and they like to buy things as cheaply as possible. K | ![]() kerpen01
12/7/2007 22:14 | Sometimes I wonder if the stats/figures coming out of China/India are manipulated to their advantage...lets face it when you get so used to giving out good growth figures...last thing you want to do is slam on the brakes too hard...massage the figures to keep the growth story going on for as long as possible... | ![]() diku
12/7/2007 19:35 | Which "cycle" diku? There was a debate between a "normal" cycle and a "super"-cycle. The "normal" cycle duration has now passed and I think general consensus (always dangerous) is that we're in a super-cycle (based on China / India growth). Has this come to an end? Personally, I think not. Until we see China/India growth indicators turning lower or the resources supply side turning positive significantly over demand there will be considerable incentive to buy resources assets for the future (my original estimate in 2002 for this cycle was 2012). Mining start-ups have not yet delivered significant enough supply to outweigh demand growth and growth in China / India has not slowed, if anything it has accelerated. So, this is, to my view a mid-term squeeze in assets and people will be chasing them further now that full realisation of the China / India (BRIC) growth stories has finally sunk-in. But I may be wrong! reegards, | ![]() sogoesit

12/7/2007 16:33 | Is today's rise on all mining stocks due to BHP....takeover speculation flying on all other mining stocks...are companies being bought at the top of the cycle??? | ![]() diku
12/7/2007 15:01 | Folks, any idea how high this could go? I have this under long term but have some warrants (as well as copper warrants) and its rise has caught me by surprise... I also get nervous when sp's go "vertical"!! Any ideas appreciated. My other "copper plays" are Jiangxi Copper and Peru Copper (CUP) but CUP just been bid for by Chalco so it has now stalled for a "measly" investment gain of 90%. Do i stick my CUP proceeds into more copper.... mmmhhh? reegards, | ![]() sogoesit
12/7/2007 13:47 | You have got to be crazy, the copper price has yet to react to the falling stock situation, which shows no sign of easing. Copper to US$10,000 in medium term. | ![]() kerpen01
12/7/2007 12:22 | short again from 689 stop 701. good divergence on daily chart. | tofur

11/7/2007 09:16 | Doubt that there will be a bid, too much of a one trick pony (although very profitable) for Xstrata etc, all imho though. | ![]() devonlad
10/7/2007 12:06 | Short again from 672.5. I hope there is no bid larking in the shadow | tofur
10/7/2007 09:49 | Called it too early last time, try again, too high too fast, in line for a decent drop! | ![]() devonlad
09/7/2007 16:27 | Me thinks it is time to short this back down to the 640p-650p... | ![]() diku
04/7/2007 16:03 | Failed to breach 650 convincingly, short term looks like a drop to test 600p as a base which should provide support and would mean a higher low so the upward trend is in place. Then we should have a retest of 650 which would hopefully be breached to confirm an upward trend or resistance would indicate a double top! | ![]() devonlad
04/7/2007 14:39 | Looks very toppy now though, time to lock in some profits I guess! | ![]() devonlad
03/7/2007 18:55 | Good isn't it? Copper and molybdenum prices are holding high and increasing; stocks are falling. | kgab2268 |
