In the 2010 accounts they received £19.7 million being part of the USD 60 million due from sanofi-aventis for the divestment of oral fludarabine, any more to come?

Edit "five further payments of USD 1 million will be made on each of the first five anniversaries of the signature of the sale agreement "

The amount of shorting going on here is bound to lead to a scramble for shares. The price will surely go towards 4p.

robandkerry - looks like they dont want to pay even 1.5p now, they removed the order.

Its still there DT, its just gone further down the book, as smaller higher priced orders have gone in above it.

Filbert - I tend to agree, sadly for the staff there.

US (Cambridge) employees will be 'at will', and therefore should be able to be made redundant at minimal cost.

from iii - conference call

Short and sweet conference call covering the bad news.
Confirmed cash position of £23.4M as of end of December.
AS1413 program terminated.
AS1411 back to investigative phase.
Smaller organisation with impact on Cambridge & London facilities.
Currently 60 employees .
Need one month for orderly closedown.
No ongoing clinical programs confirmed (as I understood it).

That is all I can see and have increased my holding slightly which wasn't much in the first place as I moved it all to AKT. Just hope that comes good!!!

Or liquidate.

All staff should be made redundant (inc the CEO) as of today other than those absolutely required to fulfill any minimum legal obligations relating to the now terminated trials. That should require about 3 people in my view - CFO to wind up, an admin person to help, and a regulatory/clin ops person for remaining legal obligations re terminated trials.

The trouble IMO is that there's not enough business left to warrant the investment
ie. admin costs are too high vs the returns from pre-clin products

so, options:
get in more PI, PIIa, late pre-clin products
or M&A to get a buyer for the cash - easier for them than a placing in some respects

Really awful news today!! What's left is :

DCAMs (dendritic cell autoimmune modulators), a programme of small-molecule
kinase inhibitors in preclinical development with potential as oral
therapeutics for autoimmune diseases, and
* PPMID, a new and highly targeted approach to cancer treatment under
preclinical development in a collaboration with The Institute of Cancer
Research.

So question is is it worh pursuing these or too risky considering the results of the other trials. They might as well merge with someone with better prospects and use the cash that way as above will be a long way down the road!!

Well here goes the mid day trades down to 2p and less. I have hardly known a share to drop so fast apart from insolvency but then the shares would be suspended prior to a critical anouncement.

A hard pill to swallow.

Filbert, totally agree.I would of thought any company with a little bit of know how and I don't necessarily mean bio could snap this up,get rid off all the staff and have the remaining products for free plus earn a few million for their troubles.I know for a fact that they have in excess of 20 million to date.
