BB if your going to be basing your numbers on the latest report then you must use the cash present at that time which was £32.1m, rather than cash as of today £23.4m, naughty

Net payables at 30 June 2010 -£8.2m including provisions

Leaves £15.2m net cash at Dec 2010 (2.4p per share)

Restructuring expenditure potentially -£3-4m

Leaves £11-12m cash for Q1 2011 (1.8p per share)

Say they reduce cash burn by half, from -£9m in H2 2010 to -£4.5m in H1 2011

Leaves £7m cash at June 2011 (1.1p per share, falling to 0.4p by year end)

Cash down to zero in 14-15 months time

The difficulty is that they need to move fairly swiftly to strip out costs but in doing so will have to spend a good chunk of cash in severance pay etc. I would certainly not be buying ASM now in the hope of a bounce but do wish holders here all the bet.

'At this price, whatever happens, you still get 4p...So why not to buy I dont understand?'

shutting down costs??

As others say, shareholders may get 2p or less

I see very little scope for any upside

I agree, glasinv, there isn't a downside at 2.1p. The upside is 4p as you say.

At this price, whatever happens, you still get 4p...So why not to buy I dont understand? From the lession and in the cash in hand, they can plan new startgey abd price can move. I dont see any risk at this price at all.

Survival doubts over Antisoma as cancer drug proves a failure
Rosamund Urwin

"THE Drugs Don't Work," was the miserable message which sent Antisoma's shares plunging 65% today.

It has stopped development of a leukaemia treatment after unsuccessful end-stage trials.

This prompted Peel Hunt analyst Paul Cuddon to question whether Antisoma can survive.

"Other than 3.5p of cash, which we anticipate will fall to 2p, little value remains in Antisoma, and sadly we fail to see an ongoing future," he warned.

The company has halted trials for a second leukaemia drug to preserve cash and plans to slash spending.

I'm not invested, no. I wasnt before either of the PIII failures.

however, ASM has cash for now, so it's just plain idiotic to suggest it's insolvent. That doesnt mean I think it's a good investment. It isnt.
Although buyers here could see a small return in a buyout - but may not
