Could have something to do with this-Andor Technology creates 166 new jobs with £18m investment. CEO Conor Walsh says the new jobs will help Andor to the next phase of growth. Great to see a company hiring against a backdrop of redundancies and global recession!

Nice piece in shares mag this week talking about prosperous companies in Ireland with quite a bit about AND and it's expansion of the Belfast plant. A lot more too come here imv.

Andor are miles ahead of any scientific camera competitor - but good to see E2V moving in on our patch as it shows how mainstream our wee niche has become.

Machine vision

Our camera platforms provide sensitive, high speed performance for high end inspection processes where quality and reliability are key customer requirements for applications such as semiconductor and electronics manufacturing inspection, food and beverage processing, ophthalmology and document imaging. Our products include line scan cameras for high end machine vision and optical coherence tomography ophthalmological applications based on CCD sensor technology. Each end user markets has specialised inspection equipment suppliers that are e2v's customers, including Carl Zeiss, Meditec, Canon Optopol and Orbotech, and there are a large number of integrators which we access via distributors and our agents.

Sales in machine vision have grown significantly with strong demand for cameras for process control applications in Asia. The increased sales resources in Asia provide a platform to support these important and growing markets. Growth is anticipated to be achieved by the expansion of our Asian markets and the widening machine vision product portfolio for which we intend to launch our own line of high end CMOS cameras in the coming year. The upside potential for accelerated customer demand would arise from earlier adoption of e2v's product range including the new CMOS high end cameras.

s.g - maybe. On the other hand, previous examples of rsi divergence on AND have produced merely a sideways spell. (Basing mine on the Sharescope default of 20 Wilder Daily rsi).

Is this past week's Candle the sign for an "evening star"?



After looking at my Candle books it doesn't appear to be forming an "evening star," but I'm not certain. Any views?

Evening Star

The evening star consists of three candlesticks:

1. A long white candlestick.

2. A small white or black candlestick that gaps above the close (body) of the previous candlestick. This candlestick can also be a doji, in which case the pattern would be a evening doji star.

3. A long black candlestick.

The long white candlestick confirms that buying pressure remains strong and the trend is up. When the second candlestick gaps up, it provides further evidence of residual buying pressure. However, the advance ceases or slows significantly after the gap and a small candlestick forms, indicating indecision and a possible reversal of trend. If the small candlestick is a doji, the chances of a reversal increase. The third long black candlestick provides bearish confirmation of the reversal.
