"Whatever it is, the markets will know before us!"

Not going to do the 'markets' much good knowing before 'us' as long as trading is suspended, amigo.

THey are due a release of cash - could be about that if there are problems.

Could be a strategic stake being taken.

Could be administration.

All sorts of possibilities.

I sent an email to the company last night, in which I suggested that given the London mining situation the strategy needed to be reworked.

One of the points I made was that the $300m for the concentrator would not be required if they could blend our DSO with LOND's 65% concentrate ( without the $10 additional costs) and as such it would've made far better sense to have punted the $70m to acquire LOND rather than trying to raise an additional $300m.

I concluded in that email that I felt that Shandong were sharing my concerns over strategy and corporate governance and hence withholding the release of the escrowed funds.

This is a big IF. But if they are merging with LOND then it would explain why the deal could have been contained from the markets and also necessitate a suspension.

I think more likely this is a going concern issue, though would not be at peace if I was short until it was confirmed.

Also remember time wise, the Chinese are 5 hrs ahead of UK so they would have been well into the working day, then phoned FT at 7.00

news if they are in trouble they would have continued to try and sort it out into the weekend. no need to call a halt.

I think they have been approached with a bucket full of cash.

BR - you muppet. $2.5bn was invested to get tonkolili to where it is today. Any buyer even when you add the loan should be at least 3 times what was paid for LOND. AMI is not going under as Timis has a lot at stake here.Imo good news possibly on funding on the way. Gla

Windjammer - Bad news is given when it is available. The timing of this fuels more concern for me. 7.59am is panicky and doesn't indicate to me that an agreement had just been entered into, neither the share price action in the preceding days. As I said before I hope I am wrong but can't pull the wool over my own eyes.
