08/4/2011 17:50 | Richgit - well said The gold side will warm up very quickly - especially if they announce plans to fast track development. IMO this is the sweet spot for any miner - the bit leading up to first production. The analysts can start talking about forward p/e's and the Market will love that. As for the iron ore? That'll come good and I expect news soon, possibly Monday. | deltrotter
08/4/2011 17:21 | Agreed - Am wondering if i'd have been better off waiting instead of adding yesterday. Sure it won't matter in the long run as it was a 'buy and hold' buy anyway - no intension of selling these. One thing I do know is, I've done nowhere near as much 'dayjob' as i'd like. Too much spectating! | greenroom78
08/4/2011 17:18 | Greenroom - still Monday and Tuesday to go. Today was a great opportunity for the mm's to mess about and make some money. | nomunnofun
08/4/2011 17:10 | I would have argued on a merely short term basis of the split -circa £2 for the Irom Ore & circa £1 for the Gold. I believe in the logics of the split and have done so for years even going back to the Mano days when there was the issue of overall identity focus. Once things settle down it will become obvious as the Market can pile into its favoured Gold or Iron Ore,with both receiving the right Market attention. So-let the games begin on 13th as some will welcome any bargain,as the theoretical short term split values are so rough and somewhat lacking in reality as I am sure we will look back in a few months to note how wrong they both were. I am sure we will hardly disagree with views the iron Ore is currently worth £3 and how that can really Multiply as more analysts in time start to further numbercrunch with reducing discounts and upping resource levels. Does anyone really need to preach then- the value of the Gold as we head closer to production and Gold marches higher in price,as we haven`t even reached the edge of potential Market Gold frenzy or the shoe shine boy scenario, and wont do for quite some time ? | richgit
08/4/2011 17:07 | my spreadbet went mad today - showed a massive loss, due to collapse in price. I rang up City Index and they advised to call back on Monday. They didn't have a clue what was going on. Anyone else in the same boat ? | thomas11
08/4/2011 16:44 | Have to admit to being a touch disappointed with today. I had hoped we'd close above 200p and possibly even roughly where we'd opened say around 210p. I'd expected a 2/3rds/1/3rd split but this looks a little more like a 60/40 split assuming that we do get even value and Aureus starts around 110-115p to make up the difference. I wonder if the 60/40% cash split has guided the market to this level? | greenroom78
08/4/2011 16:27 | silly not to 3 mins left today | ambuchanan12
08/4/2011 16:26 | just bought a few more to support this poor old company in its moment of need | ambuchanan12
08/4/2011 16:24 | Would be nice to be a fly on the wall in Mr Da Silva's office this afternoon to gauge his reaction to the valuation of the IO half of the company. There reasoning for the split was to increase sharreholder value. I know this will take a little while to settle down and achieve this but i'd like to know how they were expecting the valuation to proportion out. | greenroom78
08/4/2011 15:46 | it's currently not trading at TSX since i was going to buy some more (i hold canadian stocks) not being able to pick up more shares at these prices is making me a sad panda | j1nxed
08/4/2011 15:34 | sorry, read the other messages and saw your correction to £33 - I dunno if its worth hanging around for that kind of miserable increase, afterall natwest are offering a fixed 3% so its a close call :-) | smith99
08/4/2011 15:31 | longsight, are you REALLY expecting £333 per share in 2016 ? plus the gold | smith99
08/4/2011 15:25 | Sorry Greenroom - great minds! | woodpeckers
08/4/2011 15:25 | A little surprising to see no trades at all on the TSX. | woodpeckers
08/4/2011 15:24 | No trades on TSX yet? | greenroom78
08/4/2011 15:11 | Greenroom78 - I bought some a while back for my wife - she has texted me to say that she thinks there 'is a mistake on the computer'. Told her someone is coming on Wednesday to fix it! | nomunnofun
08/4/2011 14:48 | Rivaldo - I have just said the same to another investor via email. I dread to think what this is going to do to my overnight portfolio value. I told the other half over breakfast that one of my best investments was down 35% - I then spent time trying to explain why she shouldn't be concerned. Wish i'd have kept it to myself! | greenroom78
08/4/2011 14:43 | I'm certainly not doing a portfolio valuation tonight! Though I suppose I could stick AUE in at 100p or something... I really hope all AAAM investors have understood what's going on and haven't panic sold. I don't think I've ever come across this "limbo" situation before - whenever I worked on demergers or splits in the past it all occurred on the same day. Looking forward to Wednesday anyway. And thx to all on this most civilised of threads. | rivaldo
08/4/2011 14:33 | Here come Canada | greenroom78
08/4/2011 14:31 | Cheers. That makes sense. | pote
08/4/2011 14:29 | I used my full ISA allowances for my wife and I by doing bed & Isas on 6 July with a 1p spread. I am now T trading AFF (using the AAAM Epic). I bought just 1000 shares on T25 for £1.94 with settlement date 19 May. I hope the dust will have settled a bit by then. My core holdings now 65000 with AEU rights. | ridicule
08/4/2011 14:29 | pote - stop losses are usually adjusted for dividends so should be affected. Depends on what allowance was made for the value of AUE as this in effect is the dividend. | greenroom78
08/4/2011 14:21 | Just a bit of a mad thought, but are any of the sales likely to be stop losses that have been hit? I don't use them so am unaware of what the situation may be in this case. | pote |
