12/4/2011 08:36 | Extract: Gbagbo Capture Sets Ivory Coast on Difficult Recovery Path (1) By Pauline Bax, Olivier Monnier and Jason Mclure April 12 (Bloomberg) -- The capture of Ivory Coast's former leader Laurent Gbagbo may mark the end of 11 years of conflict that culminated in an assault on the largest city, Abidjan, stalling the economy of the world's largest cocoa producer. | longsight
12/4/2011 08:29 | Extract: Rio Tinto Profits Signal No Boon for Shipping: Freight Markets By Jason Scott April 12 (Bloomberg) -- Rio Tinto Group and BHP Billiton Ltd. will report record profits this year as Australia ships more iron ore than ever and still fails to meet Chinese demand that has risen sevenfold in a decade. The biggest ore-exporting nation will send 425 million metric tons overseas, 5.5 percent more than in 2010, according to the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences, the government's commodities forecaster. Global seaborne supply of the raw material for steel will fall about 15 million tons short of demand, compared with an 11 million-ton surplus last year, according to Macquarie Group Ltd. The Sydney-based bank is forecasting a 12 percent jump in prices this year, on top of 2010's 84 percent advance, showing why analysts estimate that Rio and BHP will report gains in profit of as much as 74 percent. Demand also will strengthen as Japan, the world's second-biggest ore importer, rebuilds after its worst-ever earthquake. That still won't be enough to make shipping rates in the spot market profitable. "Chinese appetite for iron ore isn't showing any signs of abating," said Chris Hall, who helps manage $4 billion of assets at Argo Investments Ltd. in Adelaide, including shares of BHP. "Add to that all the steel Japan will need to help rebuild after the earthquake and it's looking like Australia's iron-ore exporters are in for a good year." | longsight

12/4/2011 00:42 | From Stock market reporter received 11 April at 19:16 Evolution Securities issued a "buy" rating for Africa Aura Mining* (AAAM) with a 280p target price. Since the company confirmed its intention to split, the broker notes that the 200 million dollar (122 million pounds) run-up in the share price over the past two months reflects the market's recognition of value in the two parts of the group. Furthermore, although the two groups have much to achieve in order to ensure the success of this split, Evolution believes the opportunity for management to focus on a smaller number of projects presages good news. The shares fell 5.5p to 187p. | parthus
11/4/2011 22:17 | This is how the so called Market works, especially with confusion from some on Margin that panic sell,as doubtfully anyone with paid for stock is a seller. At current valuation If the Gold doesn`t maintain over £1.00 per share on 13 th or if the Iron Ore value doesnt rise as compensation-then-ar Always expect the unexpected and be ready to take advantage from confusion. Seen it all dozens of times over 20+ years, IMHO. | richgit
11/4/2011 20:04 | matrixtrader - thanks for your post. There is also of course the potential for news imminently from Ngoa & the chance that this might support a DSO operation [as considered in the technical report on Nkout] - & also of potential resource news at Akon. | longsight

11/4/2011 19:21 | seems like the trading halt i canada have been lifted, too bad the spread is all over the place! i was hoping i could get some cheap ones (1 000)3,00 - 3,80(2 000) | j1nxed
11/4/2011 19:14 | well african aura is currently valued lower then sphere resources (Spheres mcap i cemented due to a takeover from xstrata), and this is just on the current resources. We are still have significant upside potential even if we don't adjust the EV/Total FE multiple that is currently at $0,38 i arrive at $765,51m in mcap by using 2 014,5Mt (5Bt in putu equals 1925Mt and 4Bt from nkout and then using a 34% ore grade) of Total contained iron and leaving the multiple at the same level. This company is going to turn their drilling money into serious "Mcap money" even if nothing changes. Increasing the mutliple to what it was pre split (roughly $0,66) increases the mcap to $1329,57M so i can't say i worry about what the share price is today when i know that they are doing a massive drilling campaign in the area of nkout | j1nxed
11/4/2011 19:05 | Thanks for that MT. You are a well respected, no BS poster on here. Nice to see your confidence. | deltrotter
11/4/2011 19:00 | Fwiw i saw aura and sundance over the last week. No insider stuff here but Aura are positive that they will double both resources by xmas. Interestingly Sundance are not looking to monopolise and welcome joining forces with aura with the rail system as this will lower their opex. Would also hope to see some kind of partner in the near term for sundance, again this is publci info and they didnt tell me anything i shouldnt know but i would expect some partner to come forward with finance in next few months hopefully so will significantly derisk project. so 2bt at nkout and 5bt plus at putu valued in the ground in 8ish months and i think we should see 400p comfortably by xmas..markets remaining stable etc etc :) | matrixtrader
11/4/2011 18:42 | knight - you will be trebling your loss on Wednesday: But you will have shares in AUE and AFF instead! | nomunnofun
11/4/2011 18:39 | @matrixtrading thank you for that clarification (even tho it did nothing to cure my confusion ;)) attributable iron or sounds like they're using stakes in the the projects to calculate how much iron ore afferro owns, which is very odd considering 667Mt is already attributable (100% for nkout and 38,5% for putu). It is very confusing since you should use the EV/Total FE multiple to adjust the risk, not the amount of ore. My target is still $0,75 for putu when they initiate the pfs and currently nkout is at $0,5 but i will increase this when the railway gets the greenlight | j1nxed
11/4/2011 18:13 | Thought this week would be exciting but just kinda wishing we were a month down the road when I'm sure everything will look a lot better. Do miss looking at my portfolio with a big smile on my face tho'! | woodpeckers
11/4/2011 18:05 | The evo note is 23 pages long, they get the 667mt and then they use some kind of weighted average gving 334 contained fe for the two resources and get the 400m usd valuation. i dont really get what they have done, if get time will call the analyst tomorrow, they keep calling it attributable contained iron ore. | matrixtrader |
