Longsight - Optimistic would be AAAM (or AFF) finishes blue tomorrow and AUE still opens at 150p+ on Wednesday.

HB - I emphasise that I am no expert on this. This is my take on things - right or wrong.

As I see it, tomorrow AAAM will trade at a lower price because it will just be the Affrero business. The missing bit of the share price will be in the AUE shares that will not yet be trading but will of course do so on the 13th. So for example, tomorrow AAAM trades at £2.50 reflecting that sale or purchase of it from tomorrow just is of the Co with just the IO assets. Then on next Wednesday AEU starts trading at say £1.50 - so at that point both shares will be priced together at £4 [I take an optimistic view of things!]

Well, I may live to regret this but I have bought more.

Management are going ahead with the split as they think AFF & AUE will be worth more separately than as AAAM combined. I have backed them since 80p (although was against the split initially) so I have decided to back them further.

Good luck to me! (oh and you lot!)

longsight, so you think there should be no particular price change tomorrow since you are effectively buying AAAM without AUE but getting AUE certs on 13th, ie both parts but separate.

Might be an idea to buy in Canada?

longsight.. precisely

Greenroom..I think that must be the reason for the late selling..no interest in the gold company..hoping to pick up cheaply on the iron ore company.

Should be some bizarre movement ahead !

HB - I believe if you sell tomorrow you will still receive the AUE shares on 13th. From tomorrow AAAM = just the IO Co so any sale tomorrow will be of just that & any purchaser tomorrow will be buying AAAM ex entitlement to AUE - imo!!!

HB - a quake in Japan followed by a tsunami alert for N Japan. Though seems more in the category of aftershock & tsunami predicted at 1m high. So hopefully just another nasty fright rather than anything substantial. DJ not off much now suggests this.

I'm wondering if someone is getting ready to take their chances tomorrow? Maybe someone not interested in the gold but hoping to get a better position on the Fe side in the morning?

Er...what's happening in Canada - apologies if I've missed something, but is there a specific reason why it's down so much?

SG - That was them C.A.T. I couldn't remember what they were called. I do remember coming off the phone very reassured. That was before Gaddafi started flexing his muscles though.

I am fairly certain that you WILL lose your Aureus shares if you sell tomorrow.

After much deliberation I'm going to hold off transferring AAAM to the ISA until after the split. It means I'll need to sell/rebuy 2 companies oppose to one however depending on how the share price is split between the two, it may be the case that I would want more of AUE than AFF or visa versa.

Good luck all and one thing for sure is we'll all be quids in further down the line.

If anyone is thinking of trying to trade them tomorrow (I'm not) then I would want it made crystal clear (and the mixed posts on here I think still leave some doubt) that you will not lose your entitlement to the Aureus shares.

I posted this earlier

I hold shares but also have 2 SB's so have spoken to IG

They have told me that 1 of 2 things will happen.

Firstly AAAM may delist tomorrow and therefore will not be tradeable until the 13th under the new co. I guess we would have already known this if this was to happen?

Secondly, (for anyone concerned about their SB tomorrow) they get a price on AAAM ~15 minutes before the open and if it is considerably lower they will adjust stop losses accordingly. For example, if the 2 co's were equally valued at 50% each and AAAM dropped by 50% tomorrow to reflect the gold being removed then your stop losses will adjust accordingly.

I have been told there is nothing to worry about!

Max - someone did mention it earlier. I phoned IG a few weeks back and they assured me not to worry, I did close those sbets though on the ME/Japan wobble and used that to increase ISA exposure. I now don't have any sbets in AAAM so haven't looked much since. When/if you call them make sure you speak to someone who knows fully about the situation, I found the chap on the dealing desk was unsure so went to one of their market people.
