hold tight...bondholders know what a bargain they are getting to recoup their losses from the endemic corruption that is allowed in the City of London...of course they are part of it...

whats the oil price based on?

Afren also said production in the first quarter of the year averaged above its guidance of 23,000 to 32,000 barrels of oil per day, coming in at 36,035 barrels, delivering revenue of USD130 million...is that about 40 dollars a barrel?

I am afraid, until we see legal action against those failing in their fiduciary duty (including the corporate governance structure, as well as the previous corrupt board members), it is a no vote by me. Shares held 59070. I do hope the Nigerian government nationalise your assets there. I have known the Nigerians to be corrupt, but the Afren board (past) really does need to be held to account, as do the accountants, auditors and the whole corrupt shebang

"Take back your money, madam. We can't allow it. You're welcome to ride here as long as you please, but this shebang's chartered, and we can't let you pay a cent."

This situation is a little bit like a game of chicken for ASOG. Unfortunately the other guy (Bondholders) are driving an artic and will not swerve since the point of no return for that vehicle has been passed. It is clear from the announcements that the default on the bonds means that even if a no vote is given they are in charge and will take all of the assets although the process will be a bit more disorderly and they may not get as good a price for the assets in a forced sale and therefore maybe a lower return. However shareholders have a much smaller and more nimble vehicle, say a Fiat Punto so they can still swerve, vote yes and come away with a bit of lost face and c.10% of the company. Alternatively if they refuse to swerve and vote down the proposal as I think ASOG are suggesting then they will die in the head on in the collision i.e. their shares are worthless and they will see zero return. However by intentionaly wiping themselves out they will cause a minor inconvenience to the rest of the stakeholders in their lorry. It's not really rational to intentionally lose all of your money so that someone else get's a slightly lower return however crazier things have happened when people get emotional about events they percieve to be unfair.

That's your opinion it's not my opinion.I want to be part of the new Afren where we will have some chance of making up some of our losses.I will be taking part in the open offer and buying more shares in the open offer than my entitlement. The YES vote will win easily in my opinion

Because it is a special resolution 3 shares voting yes are required for every one voting no.

It all depends on how the General and his wife vote. If they vote no then the shares become worthless, they will probably suspend trading straight away - how can you have shares on the market when the BoD believe they have no value.

The only sensible vote is to vote with your feet and sell while you still can.

It's interesting what centurionsid says. I registered with ASOG approx. 3 weeks ago at afrenshareholders.com, and I haven't received a single email update. Also, it seems that the website has been largely dormant since then, with no meaningful updates. Currently, the site seems to be down and is displaying a blank white screen. The only ASOG updates I've seen are the notices posted here and at other public comment boards. Anyway, the logic of voting No has become murky, except as an overall expression of one's disgust with actions that are well behind us now.

So let me get this right. There are holders on here that will vote NO- even though it has been made abundantly clear for several months that a NO vote will result in liquidation of Afren.Bizarre!

RE: Afren Letter

If you do not wish to vote YES, do not send the letter back.

It is a pro forma letter for you to send back to your broker essentially to vote for recapitalisation and dilution.

To vote NO you still have to vote through your broker

Are you registered with ASOG? Our members get regular updates by email on exactly what to do for the EGM etc. It also helps us gauge the level of opposition to the deal.

To register go to www.twitter.com/asogafren and you will see instructions.

You will also find many links over on LSE.

Many thanks

DO NOT VOTE NO BY ACCIDENT

AFREN ARE SENDING SHAREHOLDERS AN EGM VOTING INSTRUCTION LETTER THAT
DOES NOT HAVE AN OPTION TO VOTE AGAINST.

IS THIS A TRICK TO MAKE YOU VOTE YES?
