Statement re Press Comment

                       Statement regarding press comment                       

The Company notes press comment relating to a visit yesterday at Newsham House,
one of ADL's care homes, by police officers and representatives of the
Commission for Social Care Inspection ("CSCI"), following allegations made to
CSCI in relation to residents. No specific information has been given to the
Company, Directors or staff.

The Directors are taking legal advice. At the present time no information about
the allegations has been received and the Directors have seen no evidence which
suggests wrongdoing by the Company. Once the position has been clarified the
Company will make a further statement.

Newsham House continues to operate at full capacity and the Directors have
provided additional resources to ensure that there is no disruption to the care
of service users beyond that caused by this investigation itself.

The Company today issued its audited results for the year ended 31 March 2005
which are set out in a separate press release.
