BFS ABSOLUTE RETURN TRUST LIMITED ("the Company")

NOTIFICATION OF MAJOR INTERESTS IN SHARES


The Company received notification on 27 November 2003 from Aberdeen Asset
Management PLC ("AAM") that on 25 November 2003 AAM sold 4,161,426 Capital
Shares of 0.1 pence each in the Company on behalf of Aberdeen High Income Trust
PLC.

Aberdeen High Income Trust PLC now holds nil capital shares representing 0.00%
of the issued share capital of that class (previously 6.31%).

The total number of the Company's Capital shares now managed by AAM and its
associated companies is 3,792,862 shares, representing 5.75% of the issued share
capital of that class (previously 12.05%).

The resultant total voting shares now managed by AAM and its associated
companies is 3,792,862 shares, representing 2.87% of the total voting shares of
the Company in issue.
