04/9/2015 14:14 | 888 tells bwin and gvc, in the nicest possible way to FO! and another good decision by our savvy twins Leaves us wide open to hostile attack and if that happens everyone knows what the minimum acceptable bid is so as shareholders we can either sit back and just reap the gradual benefits of the business or wait for the inevitable £2.40 offer which in itself might be at the lowest end of projections. personally I am not unhappy with this turn of events but an 888 Bwin tie up would have been excellent, although not at 'any price' | cyman
04/9/2015 12:22 | So we have pulled out , good decision because i don't think the price they would have to pay is justified. Always think that when a company sells because they are not doing so well there is usually hidden skeletons in the closet so it's up to GVC to find them !!! | oohrogerpalmer
04/9/2015 10:20 | WMH has lost predatory power with 888 like LAD once did, now must return weaker for a second chance proposal, while 888 has been spurned its self and resistance is lower! Neither of them can be choosy anymore! | gotnorolex
04/9/2015 09:07 | Exactly. 5 million pay off to cover costs so far really plus now firmly in play.Hills need to do a deal now paddy power and ladbrokes have done their dealsHills and 888 just about works but Hills have to pay the 2.40 or so it will need | trentendboy
04/9/2015 08:32 | Can see William Hill coming back maybe? | jamesjoel
04/9/2015 08:28 | I assume 888 will get the £5 million pay off that will help towards costs. Also if this has now fallen through it may make them a target for somebody else now !!! | oohrogerpalmer
04/9/2015 07:38 | The way 888 have handled this is interesting from the point that 888 don't seem to upset. Maybe a bigger offer will surface from 888 but they are not making those noises currently. I am inclined to think, China is of more interest to 888 now, this BPTY just might be ignored, just a guess, but China will cost set-up expenses and not much more and first in China will be rolling in it. The length of time it is taking USA to get its act together must be of concern to all involved, plus, European companies get a raw deal in the States. I believe 888 are already in talks in China, following on from the Rumania deal. | stephen1946
04/9/2015 07:33 | Correct. 888 now in play though Could result in so rise ironically | trentendboy
04/9/2015 07:29 | Well gvc are now holding the upper hand. Looks like being the playground cry baby paid off. No mention of the revised 888 offer at all. Bwin are playing for every penny they can get now so any more action will likely need to turn hostile and the valuation is already squeezed high on this so not much room for manoeuvre either. | cyman
02/9/2015 15:47 | also in the times today... | cyman
02/9/2015 10:45 | Where does it say they may go hostile | jamesjoel
02/9/2015 07:55 | CYMAN, USA AND UK futures don't agree with you. | stephen1946
02/9/2015 07:52 | Bloodbath today. Ftse will dive in open | cyman
01/9/2015 18:36 | The three firms involved in the bidding war posted half-year results on Friday. Bwin reported a interim pre-tax profit of 3.1 million euros (£2.3 million) compared to a period a year ago when it had a 94 million euro (£64.9 million) loss, hit by a writedown of assets. First half results for 888 showed pre-tax profits down 41% to 20 million US dollars (£13 million) for the first half, hit by the 14.4 million US dollar (£9.3 million) impact of new online taxes in the UK. Meanwhile, GVC said half-year pre-tax profit fell 5% to 17.1 million euros (£12.5 million) partly due to the impact of 3.8 million euros (£2.8 million) related to the attempt to buy Bwin. Who will win!! | gotnorolex
01/9/2015 18:11 | GVC’s wagers increased 19% to €824m while 888’s like for like revenue went up 9% to $244.9m. Has history turned a page? The beat goes on! | gotnorolex
01/9/2015 17:11 | GVC are concerned about the amount of money invested in the current consolidation process, the outcome will be a demand for wholesale regulation. Result?? Goodbye GVC. Kenny knows it is coming hence this desperate attempt at a pipedream, rather like the Alamo. Crocket being Kenny. | stephen1946
01/9/2015 16:33 | a fairly good reaction judging by today's rise. The 888 case has been made out before and any increased bid as per today IMO strengthens the case even more notwithstanding that it may be £'s lower than gvc. Bwin know that 888 is the best way forward and I am tempted to think that we just might have the upper hand once again in this bidding war. | cyman
01/9/2015 14:27 | Stephan what reaction do you expect to the share price if 888 win? | jamesjoel
01/9/2015 14:01 | The winner is, 888. GVC? a loser, that nobody wants. | stephen1946 |
