      The Southern Banc Company, Inc., (OTCBB: SRNN) headquartered in Gadsden, 
      Alabama, announced today that its Board of Directors is paying a 
      quarterly dividend in the amount of $.0875 per share on or about 
      December 15, 2008 to stockholders of record at the close of business on 
      November 14, 2008.
    
    
      The Southern Banc Company, Inc. is the holding company for The Southern 
      Bank Company, which conducts business through four banking offices in 
      Gadsden, Albertville, Guntersville and Centre, Alabama. At 09/30/2008, 
      the Company had 806,086 shares of common stock issued and outstanding, 
      approximately 190 stockholders of record and consolidated total assets
