Sonic Solutions®
(NASDAQ:SNIC), the leader in digital media software, today announced
that TitleMatch Entertainment Group, a division of Protocall
Technologies Incorporated, (OTCBB:PCLI), and leading provider of
DVD-on-demand systems for retailers and e-tailers, is upgrading their
systems to support Sonic’s Qflix™-enabled
DVD On Demand™
platform for the custom manufacturing of DVDs with Content Scramble
System (CSS) encryption as well as RipGuard and ACP, Macrovision’s
proven content-protection technologies. The resulting TitleMatch systems
will enable retailers and e-tailers to supplement physical inventory
with a large digital library of television programming and movie titles
that can be securely manufactured on demand to DVD complete with
full-color artwork and disc packaging. Demonstrations of the TitleMatch
solution are available by appointment in Sonic’s
private meeting room at the Renaissance Hotel (Copa Conference Suite A
and B) during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), January 8th to the 12th,
Las Vegas, NV.
“Sonic’s DVD On
Demand platform with Qflix, RipGuard, and ACP content protection will
give us the ability to expand our content libraries to include
high-quality Hollywood movies, television series, and specialty programs,”
said Syd Dufton, President of TitleMatch Entertainment. “Our
new TitleMatch DVD-on-demand systems will enable our retail and e-tail
partners to expand their product offering and provide their customers a
unique shopping experience, while at the same time reducing the risk and
cost of maintaining a large physical inventory.”
Sonic’s DVD On Demand platform incorporates
Qflix, the industry-standard copy protection system for recordable CSS
on DVDs, as well as Macrovision’s RipGuard
and ACP content protection technology. As the content protection
mechanism used on commercially mass-produced discs and incorporated into
all DVD players today, CSS has been deemed essential by many major
Hollywood studios for the on-demand digital distribution of premium
entertainment. Macrovision’s RipGuard and ACP
technologies, deployed on over 5 billion DVDs worldwide to date, help to
further safeguard studio content by protecting discs against digital
ripping and analog copying.
The new TitleMatch systems will allow retailers to burn video content in
stores and at distribution centers at the time orders are placed. For
online orders, consumers will browse and select available titles from an
e-tailer's website with orders produced at product distribution centers,
store locations or by TitleMatch Entertainment using the TitleMatch
Factory™. At retail
stores, consumers can browse and select available products from
multimedia touch-screen display terminals located on the sales floor.
Orders are produced behind the counter by store personnel on the
TitleMatch Factory in minutes.
“We are entering an exciting new phase in
entertainment delivery that helps the industry keep pace with consumers’
requests for more entertainment choice and greater control over how,
when, and where they enjoy it,” said Jim
Taylor, general manager of Sonic’s Advanced
Technology Group. “With the inclusion of
Qflix, RipGuard, and ACP, TitleMatch represents a secure and compelling
digital distribution option for content owners.”
