AT&T and NEC Jointly Implement Companywide VoIP Solution for
OMRON Corporation
Over 10,000 telephones installed at 81 business locations in Japan
TOKYO, April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T and NEC Corp. (NEC) announced today that
the two companies have jointly implemented a Voice over Internet Protocol
(VoIP) solution at OMRON Corp. in Japan. By establishing this VoIP network,
OMRON expects to reduce costs by approximately $500,000 annually.
The migration to VoIP began in November 2004, and after voice-switching testing
and other preparations, over 10,000 telephones nationwide were switched in just
two days.
In this project, AT&T was responsible for project management, network design,
equipment/line selection, test and operational support. NEC installed VoIP
equipment, including UNIVERGE SV7000 servers and VoIP gateways at all
locations.
AT&T works with OMRON on a global level, and has implemented an AT&T Internet
Protocol Virtual Private Network (IP VPN) solution at 53 business locations in
19 European countries, 15 business locations in 9 countries in the Asia Pacific
region. The VPN solution also has been extended to the United States. The
network provides the foundation for the company's global, seamless business
operations.
