As the Dow Jones approaches the key 17 000 level the focus on the small cap markets and specialized segments remains a big attraction for many investors, today we look at a group of stocks that have been in the news and have the potential to finish the week's trading on a high note.

CytoDyn (OTC: CYDY) closed just below £1.00 in trading to close yesterday after being higher earlier in the trading session. Since the start of the month shares have been in a firm uptrend climbing 40% form their recent low.  The volume has been increasing as this company approaches the previous high.

Alliance Semiconductor (OTC: ALSC) whose shares have moved around 10% over the last month as they also have been in the news this week liquidating their remaining position in Ambac. Things can happen to push shares higher when stocks are going through liquidations. Just look at the example last year in American Airlines (AAMRQ) as that stock forced it way out of bankruptcy and into one of the biggest merger deals of all time.

Bayside Corp (OTC: BYSD) shares closed higher by 15% ahead of the open today as they continued the impressive run that stock has enjoyed by rising 200% in value since June 13^[th]. The volume was also more than three times the normal daily average as traders to continue to push the stock higher.  During the move higher Bayside announced its gross sales figures from Vault 51.

In Ovations Holdings (OTC: INOH) closed lower by 19% coming off a run higher in the last trading week.  The last two trading sessions have produced a lower end to the day after profit taking was evident from the large move to the upside.  Going into Friday's trading session traders will be looking for the stock to hold some ground if it's going to make another move higher to resistance.

Novagant (OTC: NVGT) has been low on the volume trading side recently but going into the open on the OTC markets today that could be different.  The stock in the medical marijuana space could make waves if the chatter online continues online and the recent acquisition of property rights shows promise.  The stocks LED light is the focus of the business with shares trading at $0.40 with a yearly high of $2.00.
