Deutsche Lufthansa AG will redeploy its fleet of Airbus SE A380 superjumbos starting in summer 2023 as more customers return to the skies after two years of restrictions that had dampened demand, especially on long-haul routes.
The German flag carrier said Monday that it still has eight A380s in its fleet after selling six currently parked in Spain and France. The A380 is the world's largest passenger aircraft and is popular with both customers and crews, Lufthansa said.
"We decided today to put the A380, which continues to enjoy great popularity, back into service at Lufthansa in summer 2023. In addition to this, we are further strengthening and modernizing our fleets with some 50 new Airbus A350, Boeing 787 and Boeing 777-9 long-haul aircraft and more than 60 new Airbus A320/321s in the next three years alone," the company's executive board said in a letter to customers.
