NEW DELHI--SpiceJet's chairman said Friday the company plans to announce an order for up to 100 passenger jets in the next month.
India's second-largest budget airline is finalizing talks with Boeing Co. and Airbus Group SE for the multibillion dollar order, Chairman Ajay Singh said. He said the order will be placed with either of the two plane manufacturers.
He said the airline wouldn't take on any debt for the purchase and can make the initial payments for the planes from its cash accruals.
SpiceJet is also in discussions with Bombardier Inc. and ATR to order turboprop planes, said Mr. Singh without elaborating.
SpiceJet operates a fleet of Boeing 737 jets and Bombardier Q400 planes.
