Despite Recession, Seattle Home Values Among the Most Stable in the Nation

The following is a snapshot of what is happening today in the Seattle real
estate marketplace. The Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce has it right
when they state, "The continuing growth of the Puget Sound region is a
clear indication of its desirability as a place to do business and to
live."

Although housing-market activity continues at a slower pace and appreciation is only in the single digits as compared to recent years, in this region of the country, economists do not expect home prices to drop significantly. According to the Chamber of Commerce's data, "The region's population topped 3.5 million in 2007, and more people have consistently been moving here than leaving. This influx of new residents is expected to remain strong for the foreseeable future. In fact, the Puget Sound Regional Council estimates that by 2040, the region will add 1.7 million people and 1.2 million more jobs."

Given this outlook, Cascadia intends to accelerate its pace of acquisitions and aggressive growth for acquiring holdings in the Seattle and Tacoma markets and is currently in negotiations for additional properties that will fit well into its expanding portfolio.
