Bayer AG (BAYN.XE) said Thursday that it will donate 50 million units of hemophilia A treatments this year to support people suffering from the blood-clotting disorder in countries with poor healthcare.
The German pharmaceutical giant made the pledge as part of a new five-year partnership with the World Federation of Hemophilia Humanitarian Aid Program. The partnership will treat up to 5,000 people in more than 60 countries.
Hemophilia, which is a largely inherited bleeding disorder, affects around 400,000 people globally, with hemophilia A the most common variant. Some 75% of people with bleeding disorders live in developing countries without access to adequate treatment, according to the WFH.
