During March 2010, an extensive survey work program of the Discovery Day Gold property was performed by Brown Surveying of Reno, Nevada. As previously announced, this work program was designed to map the locations of all underground workings including the two major veins at the historic Gilta Mine located on the north side of Bowerman Mountain. The primary goal was to extrapolate the extensions of the veins and determine the relative positions of these structures to the Discovery Day Mine workings on the south side of the mountain. The survey crew was successful in locating and tying together numerous key structural and geological points in the respective underground workings and across the ridge of the mountain. The survey data was then compiled into a base map for use in advancing the exploration program. A copy of the map will be posted on the company's website.
"This survey data and resulting base map will allow us to determine the relative positions of both the Gold Run and Hunter veins with a good degree of accuracy. The information will be key in the development of a targeted underground drill program to be initiated from the Discovery Day workings," commented Mr. Patrick Fagen, the project's mine manager. The preliminary results indicate that a southern strike extension of both veins should be within close proximity of the end of the "72 cross cut" in the lower haulage level of the Discovery Day mine. "We expect to be able to intersect both veins within a drilling distance of 10' to 250' from the NE end of the present workings," added Mr. Fagen.
"We are excited with the results of the latest surveying and mapping work. We are now preparing for an underground drilling program, which should substantiate the proximity of the veins and facilitate our efforts to move into production mining in the very near future," said Mr. Wayne Gruden, American Sierra's CEO.
