Pimco Hires Maisonneuve as Managing Director, Head of Equities Portfolio Management

Money manager Pimco has named Virginie Maisonneuve, most recently head of global and international equities at Schroders PLC, as a managing director and global head of equities portfolio management.

Ms. Maisonneuve, who has more than 25 years of equity investing experience, will be based in the investment management firm's London office and is expected to begin in January. Ms. Maisonneuve will lead Pimco's active equity portfolio management and also contribute to the development and introduction of new equity and asset allocation strategies, the firm said.

"We are delighted to have Virginie on board as part of our multiyear effort to deepen and expand the set of global investment solutions we provide to clients around the world," said Pimco CEO and co-CIO Mohamed A. El-Erian.

The Wall Street Journal reported in January that Pimco had appointed Marc Seidner as its interim head of global equities, according to a person familiar with the matter. The move came after Neel Kashkari, who previously held the position, told The Journal that he was leaving the firm to consider running for public office in California.

The departure of Mr. Kashkari, who oversaw the U.S. Treasury's Troubled Asset Relief Program during the financial crisis, was a loss to Pimco. Mr. Kashkari was hired in 2009 to help turn the bond-fund company into a big player in stock funds.

Pimco, a unit of Allianz SE (ALV.XE), operates the world's largest bond fund, Pimco Total Return. Pimco has more than $50 billion in assets under management.
