Allianz SE (AZ) management board member Enrico Tomaso Cucchiani may be named chief executive of Intesa Sanpaolo SpA (ISP.MI), the website of financial daily MF reported Wednesday without citing sources.

Cucchiani is also a board member of UniCredit SpA (UCG.MI), Intesa Sanpaolo's main domestic rival, as well as Pirelli SpA (PC.MI).

The supervisory board of Intesa Sanpaolo is meeting Thursday in Turin to discuss the possible appointment of a new CEO after the sudden resignation of Corrado Passera, now a minister in Mario Monti's government.

A spokesman for Cucchiani didn't respond to phone calls seeking comment.
