XGEN Reports Appointment of New Director

  The Board of Directors of XGEN Ventures Inc. ("the Company" or "XGEN")(NEX BOARD: XGN.H) announces the appointment of Dale W. Fedorchuk to the Board of Directors of the Company effective October 8, 2009.

Mr. Fedorchuk, a resident of Canmore, AB, is a practicing Barrister and Solicitor, licensed in the Provinces of Alberta and Manitoba, with extensive experience and expertise within the legal system. Additionally, as a businessman, Mr. Fedorchuk has interests and acumen in a broad range of undertakings in Western Canada. His knowledge and experience will be valuable to the Company, as XGEN seeks further growth to its assets in Western Canada.

XGEN (NEX BOARD: XGN.H) is an explorer, producer, processor and operator of wellsites and facilities within the Peace River Arch area of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin, with core assets located in the Montag region of northwestern Alberta.
