REGINA, SK, March 3 /CNW/ - Strategic Resources Inc. ("Strategic" or "the Corporation"), is pleased to provide the following update on its Gallinas Mountains
REE project in Lincoln County, New Mexico:
Strategic Resources is pleased and encouraged with the outcome of
metallurgical testing on Fluorite/REE bearing rock samples taken from
its mineral claims in the Gallinas Mountains. The results of this bench
scale study completed by the Montana School of Mines indicate that
Fluorite and REE mineralization can be liberated by crushing and
grinding to between 150 and 200 mesh size. This study further indicates
that Fluorite and REE product steams can be separated and recovered
effectively by the use of a Wilfley gravity table. These favorable
metallurgical observations align extremely well with findings from
various laboratory studies undertaken by the US Bureau of Mines dating
back to 1946.
Once drilling commences on the Gallinas Mountains project, Strategic
Resources plans to arrange for additional bench-scale studies using
material taken from drill core. These additional studies will further
investigate the metallurgy of various gravity separation parameters and
will also investigate the metallurgy of flotation techniques using
parameters and reagents noted in various US Bureau of Mines reports.
The New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology has now completed XRF
assaying on the geo-chem soil samples collected in October 2010. These
results are currently being combined with the geo-chem data contained
in a 1993 US Bureau of Mines Report authored by R. Schreiner. The
combination of these two data sets will assist in delineating future
drill targets.
Cal Data Ltd of Kelowna, BC has now completed an ASTER Image analysis of
Strategic's Galinas Mountains project area. ASTER analysis (Advanced
Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer) provides
high-resolution images of the Earth in different bands of the
electromagnetic spectrum, ranging from visible to thermal infrared
light. Cal Data Ltd. has used the ASTER Image data to create detailed
maps of surface emissivity and reflectance which will add to
Strategic's insights into the regional geology of the Gallinas
Mountains.
Strategic Resources has now submitted a total of five applications for
exploratory drilling on various parts of its claims in the Gallinas
Mountains. Permitting on the first of these planned drill programs has
now moved into the final stages of approval with the United States
Forest Service and the State of New Mexico. Permitting on the remainder
of the applications is progressing in an orderly fashion.
