Universal Energy Group Increases Penetration in Key Retail Energy Markets Through Acquisition

Universal Energy Group Ltd. ("Universal Energy Group") (TSX:UEG) is pleased to
announce the acquisition of the residential and commercial customer contracts of
Wholesale Energy Group ULC ("WEG") in the British Columbia natural gas market
and the Ontario natural gas and electricity markets. The acquisition was
completed following receipt of all regulatory and utility approvals.


Through this acquisition Universal Energy Group's retail energy business,
Universal Energy Corporation ("UEC"), has acquired approximately 22,000 RCEs on
fixed term contracts. The average remaining life on the contract is 48 months.
The total purchase price paid for the customer contracts is $2.5 million.

consistent with our strategy to deliver growth out of our existing markets. The
customer acquisition costs are inline with our organic customer acquisition
costs and the transaction will be immediately accretive to our financial
