Troon Ventures Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:TVN) (the "Company") today announced that shareholders have approved the election of directors at the annual general meeting ("Meeting") of shareholders held on Friday, May 23, 2008. Newly appointed directors include Michael Kenyon, Catherine McLeod-Seltzer and Jonathan Rubenstein. Incumbent directors re-elected to the board were Bruce McLeod, Stephen Quin, Colin K. Benner, John Robins, and Zara Boldt. Voting Results The following is a brief description of the matters voted upon by the shareholders at the Meeting (as set out in the Company's Information Circular dated April 25, 2008) and the outcome of the vote: - Approve the resolution to appoint Catherine McLeod-Seltzer, Michael J. Kenyon and Jonathon Rubenstein to the Company's Board of Directors: Passed - Approve the resolution to re-elect Bruce McLeod, Stephen Quin, Colin K. Benner, John Robins, and Zara Boldt to the Company's Board of Directors: Passed - Approve the resolution to fix the number of directors at eight: Passed - Approve the resolution to re-appoint PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as the auditor of the Company to hold office for the ensuing year and authorize the directors to fix the remuneration to be paid to the auditors: Passed - Approve the resolution to increase the number of shares reserved for issuance under the Company's Stock Option Plan from 1,000,894 to 1,880,895: Passed New Directors Catherine McLeod-Seltzer is the Chairman of Bear Creek Mining Corporation and a recognized leader in the minerals industry for her ability to create growth-focused companies that generate significant shareholder value. During the past 20 years, through partnerships formed with successful geological teams, Ms. McLeod-Seltzer has been instrumental in helping build a number of successful mineral companies, including Arequipa Resources, Francisco Gold, Miramar Mining, Bear Creek Mining, Stornoway Diamond Corporation and Peru Copper Inc. Michael Kenyon is a seasoned mining executive, with a Master of Science degree (Geology) from the University of Alberta, possessing more than 35 years experience in the international mining industry. He is currently President, CEO and Director of Andagan Resource Corp. Mr. Kenyon was a founding director of Cumberland Resources Ltd., which was taken over by Agnico-Eagle Mines Limited in 2007. In 2002, he co-founded and became President and CEO of Canico Resource Corp. which was acquired by Companhia Vale do Rio Doce (CVRD) in 2005. Mr. Kenyon was also a founding director of Sutton Resources Ltd. and President and CEO from 1983 up to its acquisition by Barrick Gold Corporation in 1999. From 1999 to 2002, he was a consultant to Barrick. Jonathan Rubenstein is Vice President, Corporate Secretary and a Director of Andagan Resource Corp. In 2001 Mr. Rubenstein was one of the founders of Canico Resources, where he served as Vice President and Corporate Secretary as the company explored its Onca Puma nickel deposit in Brazil. Mr. Rubenstein was instrumental in the 2005 acquisition of Canico by CVRD of Brazil for $940 million. Mr. Rubenstein was also Vice President, Corporate Affairs for Sutton Resources, where he played a key role in negotiating the $525 million takeover of the company by Barrick Gold Corporation in 1999. Incumbent Directors Bruce McLeod is a Mining Engineer with over 20 years experience in all areas of the exploration and mining industry. Mr. McLeod is presently the President & CEO of Tenajon Resources Corp. and Troon Ventures Ltd., Executive Chairman & Director of Sherwood Copper Corp., and Vice-President of International Northair Mines Ltd. Mr. McLeod was a founder of Stornoway Diamond Corporation and sits as an independent board member of Full Metal Minerals Ltd. and Reunion Gold Corp. Mr. McLeod primarily focuses on project development, strategic planning and financing activities. Stephen Quin is the President and CEO of Sherwood Copper Corp. Mr. Quin is a graduate of the Royal School of Mines, London, with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Mining Geology and has 30 years experience in exploration, corporate development and general corporate affairs. Prior to joining Sherwood Copper Mr. Quin was Executive Vice President of Miramar Mining Corporation, where he led the acquisition and exploration of the Hope Bay Project. Colin Benner is an experienced mining executive and professional mining engineer who has more than 40 years of experience in mining engineering and management in the Canadian and International mining industry. Mr. Benner is currently the CEO and Vice-Chairman of Skye Resources Inc. Previously he held the positions of CEO and Vice-Chairman of Lundin Mining Corp., CEO and Vice-Chairman of EuroZinc Mining Corp., and President and CEO of Breakwater Resources Ltd. John Robins is a principal in the Hunter Exploration Group, one of Canada's most successful private mineral exploration firms and is an active director of several successful public companies. He is a graduate from the University of British Columbia with a degree in geological sciences and has over 25 years of experience in mineral exploration. Zara Boldt is a Certified General Accountant and is presently the Vice-President, Finance for Stornoway Diamond Corporation. She also serves as a Corporate Secretary for Strongbow Exploration Inc. and North Arrow Minerals Inc.
