Texalta Commences 3 Well Drilling Program in SE Saskatchewan

Texalta Petroleum Ltd. ("Texalta") (TSX VENTURE:TEX.A) is pleased to announce
the commencement of a 3 well series in the Wildwood and West Queensdale area of
south eastern Saskatchewan.


The first horizontal well is located at Wildwood and is known as the Petrex et
al Wildwood HZ 3A6-3-4B8-3-7-2 W2. This well is to be drilled to a total depth
of 1800m. The location of this well is based on a thorough study of all 3D and
2D seismic data in the area.


The second horizontal well Petrex et al Queensdale W HZ 2D7-35-4C10-26-6-2 W2 is
located in the West Queensdale field and is to be drilled to a total depth of
2110 meters.


The third horizontal well will be known as Petrex et al Queensdale W HZ
2D5-25-4B10-26-6-2 W2 and will be drilled to a total depth of 2100 meters.


Drilling operations start Wednesday April 28, 2010 (weather permitting) and
continue until the third well is completed.


Texalta Petroleum Ltd. has an average of 40% +/- APO working interest in the
three wells.
