Semcan Inc. (TSX VENTURE:STT) ("Semcan" or the "Company") announced changes to its board of directors today. Mr. Robert J. Tweedy was re-elected to the board of directors at the Company's annual general meeting held on June 28, 2012 (the "AGM"), and was appointed Chairman of the board on the same day. Mr. Tweedy first became a director of Semcan on October 13, 2011. Following his re-election to the Company's board at the AGM, Mr. Ian L.T. Conn retired as a director effective August 9, 2012. On August 15, 2012, Mr. Peter Clark was appointed to the board of directors to replace Mr. Conn. Mr. Tweedy, Chairman, said "I am delighted with the appointment of Peter Clark to the board of directors. Peter's entrepreneurial background and strong operations experience is a valuable addition as Semcan pursues its growth strategy." Mr. Clark was President and CEO of Clark Shoes from 1969 to 1988 and President and CEO of CPI Plastics Group from 1989 to 2009. CPI Plastics was twice named in the 50 Best Companies list and, in 2004, Mr. Clark was also named Manufacturing Entrepreneur of the Year by the National Post. He has served on numerous public and private boards, including Just Energy, and served for 15 years as Chairman of the Metropolitan Toronto Licensing Commission. Mr. Tweedy is a director of Dundee Realty Investment Trust (TSE) and Chairman of Aurcana Corporation (TSE Venture). Mr. Tweedy is also an advisor to MaRS, an organization which supports the creation and growth of Canadian companies with innovative technology. Mr. Tweedy started his career as a consultant with McKinsey & Co. Inc., in Toronto, Cleveland and Paris, France. He returned to Toronto to become President of Dufferin Concrete Products Group. From 1977-80, he was President and Regional Coordinator, Bata Shoe Co. Inc. (U.S.A. & Caribbean). From 1980-89, he was President & C.E.O. of PCL Industries Ltd., Toronto and then from 1990-2006 Chairman & C.E.O., Sklar Peppler Furniture Corporation. His affiliations include membership in the World Presidents' Organization and Past Chairman of the Young Presidents' Organization, Ontario Chapter. In 2003 he was awarded H. M. The Queen's Golden Jubilee medal for his work with Care Canada including serving as Chairman. He has an Honours BA from the University of Toronto and an MBA from Stanford University.
