Speaking from the floor of the CGI conference, Ted Moorhouse said, "Serebra is privileged to be a part of the CGI and to help bridge the education gap in developing nations. By providing free online courses and exams for those who might otherwise not have the opportunity for training, Serebra is providing the means to improve skills and thereby their standard of living, regardless of economic, geographic and social barriers."
Ted Moorhouse was honored with an award from former U.S. President Bill Clinton for Serebra's dedication to finding ways to help address the education gaps between developing and developed nations. Education is one of four areas of focus for the meeting, the others being poverty alleviation, energy and climate change, and global health.
The Clinton Global Initiative, now in its fourth year, draws world leaders, celebrities, activists and scholars for three days of discussions surrounding pressing global issues. Already, CGI members have made nearly 1,000 Commitments to Action valued at upwards of $30 billion to improve more than 200 million lives in over 150 countries. Membership in the CGI is limited to a select group of heads of state, CEOs, media voices, philanthropists and foundation heads, religious leaders and original thinkers.
Participants at the 2008 annual meeting included former U.S. President Bill Clinton, former U.S. President George H.W. Bush, former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, U.S. Senator John McCain, U.S. Senator Barack Obama, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, HRH The Prince Andrew Duke of York, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates' Minister of State Reem Al-Hashimy, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, environmental lawyer Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Coca-Cola Company Chairman Neville Isdell and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates.
